WRITTEN REPORT
Things were, and are, difficult for many people. If there is one thing I am certain of, it is that all people (or, I suppose, beings, as I am not currently among people per se) experience some sort of suffering and doing so does not necessarily make one significant or special. In fact, it would be more unusual to meet someone who'd never had any sort of tragedy occur. I come from a time where preventable death was common and I now live in a time where the world seems intent on clawing at itself from the inside out even more than it was before. But I also now live in a time where the dead rise every other weekday and magic seems to be ingrained in the very world I live in. It is... difficult to imagine such a world would be peaceful. But I wish it would be. I'm tired of war. I've been tired of it since it began.
At least I have these moments to myself. I decided that morning to go on a walk through the area near the old Observatory. There were no court sessions to hold and there was no jury to call, but the old territory was more familiar to me than the new one. While I looked towards the recent tradition with great excitement, there was also much that troubled me. Things have changed so much recently and I'm more than ready for them to settle down. I had thought Ascendants would be the place for that, but clearly it couldn't be. Still, there were more people in Elysium and more distractions and that's probably for the best.
A voice floated from near the border and I made my way over, feeling tension build in my legs and chest in a way that it wouldn't have when I was a human. How interesting they were, the differences between this life and the last. "It was, once. Not long ago, actually," I answered as the being who's voice I'd heard moments ago came into view. "We recently merged with Sun Haven to form Elysium, but we retained some old parts of both territories. I don't believe we've met. My name is Clarence Aston," I greeted simply. "While I'd like to grant you immediate shelter, I first need to know your intentions."
