the dragon had let sephiroth and jiyu know to steer clear of them while they entered a painful stage of being a mature adult. they were nesting, and their emotions tended to get rocked left, right, and center. they didn't have the one person that made it easier, he had left the rosebloods months before.

currently, they were outside of the well protected and guarded main city of the rosebloods, relaxing in the burning sun, in their serpentine form, gentle breaths leaving their lungs, forearm bandaged and curled protectively against their body.

for the last few days they had been gathering supplies to create their nest, ranging from soft things like feathers and shedded fur, to hard items like bones and sticks. the harder items were set up in a defensive position around the softer center, meant to discourage attacks and egg thieves.

they were lethargic, unwilling to go and carry out the painful part of the ordeal. they had chosen a place far away from the "city" to lay their eggs, believing themselves more apt to protect their clutch by themselves than with the group at their back and agitating them. sensing they could no longer put the act on hold, they rose from their light sunbathing nap to wander inside the old ruin they had claimed as their temporary den.

they lay curled up in their nest, long sinuous body in a protective circle around the lifeless clutch of eggs they had brought to the world. they were much too tired and fatigued to be bothered to even try and destroy the eggs currently. normally, they would let the eggs be for a while, and only when they felt they were in danger, they would immediately destroy the eggs after clutching. today was one of the good nesting days. they left the eggs to harden for a few days before attempting to destroy and consume the shells.

head on the side of the nest, they dropped off into a light sleep as they focused on minimizing the pain they felt, as well as the emotional pain from not having a support or loved one there to be with them when they needed the comfort.

waking some time later, they would nudge each egg into a more protected huddle, fiddling with the nest as they got ready to leave. shortly after, they left their den and were on their way to visit tanglewood for some aid and to ease tensions, what with the echoes of war thundering in the distance.
