Obviously, Meriwether can't really blame this person for laughing at his problem. If he were in the other's position he'd probably be laughing as well. A small puff of a chuckle slips from his lips and he shifts his position slightly, trying to keep balanced. "Well, you see," He starts his explanation, then pauses. The most probable scenario is that he was sleepwalking again and somehow thought the log was a long, comfy bed. "I was sleepwalking, I think. Can't tell you how exactly it happened." He laughs, then lowers his tired head so the end of the log is sitting on the ground. Carrying the thing around on his shoulders was tiring, keeping it upright even more so.
He shifts it slightly in the direction of Atticus as the other joins the two. He isn't sure if the guy was close enough to hear his explanation, but regardless, he doesn't really feel like repeating himself. Meri lifts his head upon the other saying he was going to try to pull the log off and plants his feet in the earth as best he can. There's a tugging on it that nearly causes him to fall forward with it, but he manages to hold himself, and pulls in return. The bark scratches the backs of his ears and his head as he slowly pulls away. In a matter of moments, he goes from stuck in a log to lying flat on his back, staring blankly up at the sky. Meriwether lets out a huff of dust and slowly drags himself up from the ground. He shakes out his fur, then stands up straight to address the two before him with a warm smile gracing his features.
"Thank you," He murmurs, sincere in his words. Black eyes draw over Jerseyboy first then settle on Atticus, to whom he speaks to first. "I'm Meriwether, Meri for short. Uh, if I may... where am I?" His tail curls almost in sync with his sheepish grin, hovering just over the grass.
