So, yeah, he understood boredom well. For example, Riverside, Iowa, had been hell for young Jim. The schools weren't interesting enough, and he largely spent all of his time trying to find something to do. Which, fortunately for Jim, doubled as time away from Frank.
"Only you can prevent forest fires," Jim says, in a rather dramatic tone of voice, obviously joking. Damn, that line was centuries old, at least according to Jim's timeline. But, hey, Jim was all about the classics. It had been hilarious referencing stuff and seeing people's faces contort with confusion. Which was why he'd spent time learning the most obscure facts and references he could. It was great.
"I'll go with you, if you want." Jim says in response to Kiira's offering to the kid. He was pretty good at making stuff semi-entertaining, if he wanted to. Just part of his charm. Actually, though, Jim hadn't even been aware there was a library. Did these people use actual paperbacks, he wonders? He'd seen a lot more actual, physical books around than he did in his time. Which was weird, because these were actual animals. What year was he in?
