Not another one. Not another scary-ass creature. aubrey was not ready for this. she had been taking an innocent walk, trying to understand the territory's layout, when she had ventured a little too far and ended up near the border. the voices of other animals had drawn her closer. i can get directions back to the town from them, she thought. she was not expecting to see a nine-foot-tall- heck, what could you even call it? a canid? aubrey took one look at fenrisulfr and froze. that seemed to be her go-to response whenever she was frightened. aubrey would need to work on that. out of flight, fight, or freeze, freeze seemed like the least helpful option. and yet, the gangly serval stood there, her neck craned up to look at the pale-eyed face of the hellhound.

"what." aubrey couldn't form an actual sentence, and so only that strangled word slipped out of her mouth before she fell silent. fenrisulfr only wanted to join. aubrey faintly processed this, but it made no difference on whether or not she was terrified. her eyes flickered briefly over valo-kas and amunet. she hadn't met the one with three eyes and some awful pink goop flowing out of their mouth, but she had met amunet. when aubrey finally moved, it was to skitter over to amunet and press herself close to the jaguaress. if she wasn't so spooked, she wouldn't have done that, but she was, and amunet had proven herself to be kind and safe.

too bad for fenrisulfr, he wouldn't get an answer for his question until either valo-kas or amunet spoke, unless another one of their groupmates was going to wander over. aubrey certainly wouldn't be answering it.
