Who was he before? Not Bakugou but him. He is sure someone else used to inhabit this body. After all, he had not been hopelessly reborn from a kitten to regain his memories. No, he awoke remembering the fog of war and chaos. He awoke as if he had pulled himself through a night terror, screaming at the top of his lungs when he was 'reborn' into this world. He doesn't believe this body just materialised out of nowhere just for him. The very idea of this felt creepy to him, irksome with the way it continued to crawl beneath his skin, persistent in being uncovered. He too wanted to learn the truth of this body but he was also scared to find out. His memories of his awakening in this world was a blur. It was like going through an old film, grainy to watch back upon and lacking in colour. He can continue to investigate further but with the details he had, he would come to frequent dead ends. He doesn't like the feeling of failure but the more he lets the thoughts linger, the more uncomfortable he feels in his own fur. Had they died for him to reanimate the body? Were they alive and pushed aside when his soul took over? Bakugou swallows, trying to keep calm. The worse case scenario, he thinks, was that whoever owned this body before was, in fact, dormant within him.
Nothing can calm his feeling of anger when he hears the bell ringing. Not once, not twice...constant, refusing to stop. The male snaps into focus, lip raised in a snarl to no one in particular when he begins to march towards the railroad, clearly agitated to find out whoever the aggressor happened to be. There had to be some kind of rule next to it. Ring once or be sacrificed to the volcano - that sounded fair enough to Bakugou. And, to anyone who wouldn't be able to read or interpret the text...well, they should have been considerate enough to ring the bell only once. It is rude, he thinks, to be so impatient when they were the visitors. But as the Reaver walks closer, paws beginning to burn and wither the ground beneath him with his increasing annoyance, he realises it is a winged creature flapping and hitting the metal shape, causing the bell to clang and reverberate without an end. He continues to walk over, determined to shut the bird up when one of the newcomers catches his attention.
He stops, eyes widening in realisation that his anger had left him tunnel visioned. He wasn't looking around to see the girl moving towards the dark avian that was now eating one of the snakes that he thought was such a clever trick. He clicks his tongue, disappointed that the black mamba had been killed so swiftly. "That bird's yours?" the ragdoll asks, not holding back a frown. He was clearly displeased with the raven's disruptive behaviour. "Teach it not to ring the goddamn bell. It's irritating and fuckin' misleading." He looks at the basket, now missing a serpent. The Reaver would add more to his words but he decides it's simpler to tackle one problem at a time. The basket was now one snake down but it could be replaced. Bakugou's time, however, could not be.
