The difference between his girls and Lucifer's pack was the fact that his utahraptors hadn't been born in the wild, hadn't been raised outside of captivity. They had been genetically manufactured, created, and raised from eggs in an enclosure where Owen was the only family they knew. He wasn't just their Alpha, he was their Father, as well. Although they had grown up a lot, Owen still fawned over his girls like they're children still, as if he could still carry him around on his back and shoulders, cradle them in his arms as they pecked at his face and paws and any other part they could reach.
But they weren't, and Owen had known this. He had known that they were more independent now, but he still worried over them. One wrong move, and his girls could end up dying, and the shepherd didn't want that.
Lucifer's kids, on the other hand, intrigued Owen. They had a raw wildness in them, born in freedom, raised that way, unlike his own raptors. He had taken interest in the small feathered raptors, awe-struck by the beautiful colorings they had, the way their feathers fluffed depending on the situations, usually emotions. He knew Luci's raptors didn't like him, but he never really knew why. He had never thought to ask the blackened dragon about the reason why they usually kept away from him, but he supposed he could assume that it was because of Delta and Charlie's size being intimidating. In a real fight, even all three of the small raptor siblings wouldn't stand a chance against both of his girls, and it'd be a struggle to take out one of them.
Briefly, Owen hoped the feathered children would get bigger, allowing them to defend themselves better.
Nevermind his own, unnoticed feelings for the black-winged dragon, Owen longed to stick close to Lucifer, to get to know him and his family better. Owen didn't like Luca, but he tolerated him because of his respect for Luci himself. After all, Delta did eat Luca's previous body during a raid. Of course, back then, he lived in the Ascendants. They were enemies, stuck to live in war and fight. But now he wasn't, he was a fellow pirate, and Owen respected Pincher and Lucifer enough to not start shit in the group. Well, nothing too major.
Brown and black fur seemed to blend into the nesting branches surrounding his girls' nest where he also slept, wedged between the two utahraptors. Of course, he hadn't been sleeping there at the moment, so he couldn't see much of what Ament was doing, but he most certainly could hear it.
Long, fluffy ears twitched upwards, swiveling to listen in for intruders or unwise clanmates. While this was Typhoon territory, this part of the jungle had been claimed by his raptors, evident by the messy nest of cotton and foliage surrounding it. Credit to Delta to making such a large nest for all of the utahraptor pack to sleep together.
Owen's body flickered out of visibility as he used his invisibility power, his steps light and almost soundless as he trotted over to the nest, abandoning his pile of bedding which he had been previously trying to drag back to fill up his part of the nest bedding. He saw the familiar brown and speckled feathered raptor from behind, and a look of mild amusement formed on his maw.
While he couldn't speak these raptors language, he figured just the tone of his voice could do for now, as well as his body posture. He only knew the language his girls spoke, the language barrier separating the two packs, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, to be honest.
Amber-golden eyes focused in on the creature as it tore through his nest, and Owen finally let his invisibility drop, sitting down steadily. He postured himself calmly, tilting his head to the side. His tail was curled around his paws in a polite position, and his ears twitched at the sounds of rummaging.
"Find anything you like? It's not kind to rummage through other people's stuff." Owen's voice was filled with a soft, amused bubble of a tone. He obviously wasn't mad, but it wouldn't be good if the child got caught by the utahraptors. Luckily for him, Delta and Charlie were away. Probably on a hunt.
