She had spoken each word, given each a lightness he knew to be false for her words may be decorated, given a pretty coating to make them easier to swallow, but the state of her body was one hard to miss. It did not matter the duration of their passing, be it merely seeing each other on the way to other things with only a second sparred to greet the other or they found themselves thrown together by an event, most proving painful within recent days, the signs were there. He saw the way she moved, pained and slow, using the walking stick to bear the weight her body couldn't quite handle, how her back had healed only some when it should have been well underway by now, how her eyes were shadowed and beneath darkened further.
Something within him wanted to make her stop, force her to sit down and rest for a time, but that same thing spoke her not listening. She was stubborn in all the wrong ways, saw nothing wrong with further harming herself for the benefit of others, always striving to be perfect when she had already achieved such a status. Within the eyes – or well eye – of the sage she was everything he wanted to be, kind and just, a person others gravitated to for her disposition was one so sweet and warm, yet still she was strong, taking no shit from anyone.
Worry had finally driven Silus to finally ask her to join him in the tavern sometime in the afternoon, a time when things were a little quieter and hopefully he could have a moment alone with her. He had given up hope on getting her to sleep, allow her body time to heal, and so went for the next best thing. About the lower floor of the tavern the smell of cookies, picked up from Luca's bakery for Silus had yet to learn how to bake himself just yet, and green tea was strong. Set upon a table near to the door he sat and waited, watching the door with an anxious gaze before it flicked away, worried she found something else, another matter to attend to.
And just within the door it sat. It was nothing special, the stuffed toy shaped like a tiger sitting, head tilting slightly to one side, but it didn't hold the usual orange. Rather it seemed golden in colour, strands of bright yellow mixed with a few darker, orange and red about a few spots, the chest and chin lightened with white. Silus had picked it up from one of the various merchants that came through, kept hidden until now, waiting for Goldie.
