Q&A:
Q: WHAT ANNOYS YOU MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE?
A: "A lot of little things annoy the fuck out of me. But there is one specific thing that comes to mind." Mari lets out a little sigh and shakes her head. "One of my ex-girlfriends would take a shower, but as soon she stepped out, she'd start putting her clothes on. Immediately." The thought makes her shudder. "It's something that shouldn't bother me, but... aren't you supposed to dry off? Why the fuck would you do that to yourself?"
Q: WHAT WOULD BE THE PERFECT GIFT FOR YOU?
A: "Are you planning on getting me something?" One of her brows raises and she chuckles. "I love gifts. You could give me a handful of dirt, honestly. I'd be happy with anything, no matter how stupid it is. Actually, bonus points for anything stupid." She looks a bit more excited now. Mari loves free stuff. "Handmade things are always pretty cool. I don't care how shitty it looks, it's the effort that counts." She hums in thought before continuing. "I won't get offended if you get me a dog toy or something either. Throw 'em at me."
Q: WHAT KINDS OF THINGS EMBARRASS YOU? WHY?
A: A smirk appears on Mari's face before she shakes her head. "Embarrassed? There's nothing that embarrasses me." Her arms move to cross over the other. "I don't have an ounce of shame. Shit just happens and I accept it."
Q: WHAT KIND OF WEATHER IS YOUR FAVORITE?
A: "That kind of depends on which form I'm in. In human, I like it when it rains a little. It feels calming, and then you know the smell of the air after it rains? I like it. But, in wolf form, it gets all muddy and gross and I don't want that stuff over me." A somewhat disgusted look is across Mari's face now. "Everything feels all weird and squishy underneath my paws and it's just nasty. So, I guess you could say sunny weather works best in dog form. Or maybe cloudy because there are also those moments I'm borderline about to have a heat stroke. It's not very fun."
Q: HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO DIE?
A: Mari's brows furrow for a second before a smile makes way to her face. "What's with the grim question all of a sudden?" She laughs before pausing to think. "I'd like to go out in style. But not in a guns blazing sort of way." Her shoulders lift into a little shrug. "Did you know that there was a soccer player who died when he landed wrong on a celebratory backflip? Or that dude who had a piano fall on him? Or that-" She lists more ridiculous deaths before finally stopping. "Something stupid would be fun. Just make it memorable."
Q: WHAT WAS THE WORST INJURY YOU'VE HAD?
A: "Are you waiting for me to say something cool? Like bustin' my head open or something?" Her head tilts slightly. "Well, chances are, I've probably done that. I just don't really remember. Too many injuries to count." Though, judging by a smile that makes way to her face, she's obviously thought of something. "Have you ever played Monopoly with your family before? Because that shit gets intense." Mari kind of wishes she was joking, but she's not. "My brother accused me of cheating and tried snatching my money away with his grubby little hands. Did I cheat? Yeah, but that's besides the point. It's really hard to explain, so let's just end it here with you knowing that the little dumbass broke my wrist."
Q: IS THERE ANYONE YOU'RE INTERESTED IN CURRENTLY? HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THEM?
A: "Huh?" Although her tone is questioning, the expression on Marissa's face doesn't seem confused – just blank. "Well.... there is someone, but why would I straight up tell you? That just ruins it." She let outs a little huff of air. "Fine, I'll give you some small hints. She's a lot taller than me. And kinda mean. And she likes knitting. And reading. And I see her at the diner sometimes. And I know she likes blood soda. And no, her name is not under any circumstances Cat. Good guess though, I'll give you that."
Q: WHAT TRAIT DO YOU VALUE MOST IN A PERSON?
A: "Oh, that's easy! What I value most in anyone is honesty. Of course, there are some cases where it's okay to lie just to mess around. Hell, I do it sometimes. But, when I genuinely ask for your opinion on something, then I'd really appreciate the truth. I don't care if it's brutal. Chances are, I'd be happier that you're honest instead of trying to dodge the question or sugarcoat things. After all, if you have to lie just to spare my feelings, then can I truly trust you?"
Q: WHAT WAS THE HARDEST THING YOU'VE DONE?
A: "The hardest thing? Well it wasn't anything I did specifically." For once, her expression becomes a bit serious. "I grew up in a fairly small town with a bunch of other supernaturals. I guess you could say it was even a little bit like San Creado, except the population wasn't that small. Well, my family had to move due to some hunters coming into the area. So, adjusting to living in a bigger city was definitely hard. Especially having to suppress the whole werewolf stuff – it's a pretty big part of my identity. You can probably tell that wolves and big urban cities don't really mix well too. We definitely weren't the richest there, either, so we had to make due with what we could. But it was still a lot safer." Marissa pauses to release a little sigh before she smiles. "But it's all good now, right?"
Q: WHAT'S LOVE LIKE?
A: "That's... a very ambiguous question." Marissa's tone is calm as she begins. With a smile, she pauses for a second to think before speaking. "I don't really think there's one way to really define it. But, I don't think you necessarily have to be happy to feel love. It's when someone else's happiness becomes more important than your own. Their concerns become your concerns. You just have this desire to do whatever you can for this person... or people, depending on who you are. They're the person you open yourself up to. You tell them things you've never told anyone before, whether it's your hopes or your failures, and you don't need to feel afraid of judgement because they love who you are. You notice the little things about them, like maybe the way they walk or the way their lips turn when they smile. Things that would've never interested you are fascinating now because they're important to who you care for. The stupidest things remind you of them, like maybe a bottle of soda. You allow yourself to become vulnerable when you care. This person has the power to absolutely destroy you, but you trust them not to. So, I'd say that love is a very life-changing thing. It's amazing how a single individual can change your whole perspective on the world.
