[align=center][div style="width: 45%; text-align: justify; font-size: 9pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: verdana;color:white;"]john laughed along with his vampiric cohorts as he sat in the back seat of their car, barely even watching the movie. drive-in theaters were a fun novelty like that, letting him talk to alex and rialto and just, like, live out his dream. after all, he was a punk now. he’d stitched more patches into his jacket, hell, he even added some spikes. sure, he still didn’t own a motorcycle, but it wouldn’t be of much use considering he exactly didn’t have a driver’s license at all. whatever.
the movie was over soon, though, and they had to leave, since that’s what people did when movies ended at theaters. unfortunately for them, sneaking multiple movies in without buying more tickets was significantly harder when in a car. [color=floralwhite]“hey, johnnyboy! polidori, what’chu want for food?” rialto hollered, leaning over the passenger-side seat to look at him. john laughed lightly, taking a sip of his soda to give him a second to think. [color=floralwhite]“poli, man, what do y—”
[color=floralwhite]“how ‘bout chinese?” john suggested, a chuckle still finding it’s way into his voice.
[color=floralwhite]“oh, poli wants chinese, ri, he wants chinese!” alex yelled, shoving rialto in the shoulder before actually, like, driving. in all honesty, john never really felt safe with alex as driver, but seeing as he didn’t know how to drive and rialto freaked him out even more, it was probably for the best. the eldest vampire drove them to some takeout place, they all got their chinese food, and then they were off to somewhere.
john actually didn't know where they were heading. [color=floralwhite]“are you guys, like, driving me home, or… where’re we goin’?” he asked, feeling almost compelled to know.
[color=floralwhite]“nah, dude. it's like, like, a special surprise party for us, thrown by ourselves, and you happen to be there too,” alex said, prompting laughter from rialto that went generally unquestioned, seeing as alex was already onto another topic. [color=floralwhite]“look, john, it's a skatepark! remember when you skated, thought you were hot shit?”
[color=floralwhite]“he don't remember that, man, the kid's a knucklehead! hey, why don't we listen to some wu-tang clan?” rialto said, leaning over his seat and taunting john.
[color=floralwhite]“hell yeah, dude!” alex turned the radio up, tuning in to some pop station that definitely didn’t sound a thing like rap. [color=floralwhite]“so, johnny, remember when you skated ‘n’ thought you were hot shit?” apparently this was an important conversation to have.
john considered not replying, but… whatever. they were bound to laugh at whatever he said or didn’t say, and he still really needed to learn how to not care about all the things they said. [color=floralwhite]“i used to surf, too, man.”
it seemed like a silent challenge of withholding laughter, which rialto lost after a good three seconds. [color=floralwhite]“good god, kiddo, you’re fuckin—like, like, you’re something, did you know that?”
john laughed before splitting apart his chopsticks and digging into his cheap chow mein.
they ended up at the vamp-hive, the tiny apartment that all of the vampires seemed to live at. he hadn’t been around there that much, seeing as rialto and alex liked to drag him off to various locations that seemed like they were chosen on a complete whim, but he did kinda like the apartment and the clearly clashing styles and the personality. alex was right when they told john he really did fit in with all of them, even if that was by not really fitting in with them at all. the scary chick was around, and she and alex spoke for an uncomfortably long amount of time before rialto ushered john into the sole bedroom, which had one bed despite the apartment being used by three whole people. rialto murmured something angrily about how the scary chick always hogged it so they had to sleep on the couch or floor. john thought that was kinda funny, but only because he was so used to rialto mostly having the upper hand in terms of who was suffering.
[color=floralwhite]“so, monsieur polidori, i have a proposition. how ‘bout you give immortality a shot.” the vampire said, gesturing for john to sit down on the bed. his tone was oddly threatening, and while usually he might joke around and totally not sit down, it felt like that was for a different situation. [color=floralwhite]“you game?”
john took a breath. [color=floralwhite]“what do you mean?” he asked, having a feeling he knew what rialto meant.
[color=floralwhite]“i mean i wanna turn you, numbskull.”
[color=floralwhite]“oh.”
alex waltzed in and shut the door behind themselves, darkening the room by a considerable margin. [color=floralwhite]“ri, ‘ve you told him the plan yet?”
a plan. that was a good sign that john wouldn’t have a single choice in anything that was about to happen in the next hour or so. [color=floralwhite]“you guys are gonna turn me, aren’t you,” he mumbled, pulling his knees up to his chest. a harsh feeling of anxiety bubbled up inside him when alex and rialto laughed. [color=floralwhite]“i’m not… sure...”
[color=floralwhite]“so?” rialto asked. [color=floralwhite]“poli, kid, since when has anything gone wrong when hanging out with us?” john opened his mouth to speak, but the vampire continued talking. [color=floralwhite]“besides the whole you-almost-falling-off-a-high-rise situation.”
the punk didn’t reply soon enough for the two of them to not start taunting him. [color=floralwhite]“i just… i dunno. what if i end up like cat?” he was only half-kidding, too scared to really ask what would happen if it went poorly in any way.
alex wheezed with laughter. [color=floralwhite]“she’s even more of a freak accident than your fashion sense, johnny!! look, we wouldn’t want this for you if we weren’t confident in this shit, got it? we just don’t want you to succumb to the fate mortals have.”
[color=floralwhite]“yeah, poli, we think you’re that neat!” rialto said, punching his shoulder and sitting down beside him. [color=floralwhite]“we only want the best for you! b’sides, it doesn’t hurt much.”
[color=floralwhite]“and we have blackmail,” alex added.
john opened his mouth, mind blank. he was a bit scared, but… they were usually right about things like that. [color=floralwhite]“i...” he started nodding despite his mixed emotions. [color=floralwhite]“alright, alright, yeah. i.. i guess we can do this.”
the two vampires cheered, and soon rialto’s mouth was on john’s neck. there seemed to be a moment of hesitation, a breath or two, before any move was made. then, the moment hit. rialto sunk his fangs in, eliciting such a great enough moment of pain that john instinctively tried to push the vampire away. his strength seemed to drain from him after moments, and even if he did manage to get rialto off of him once, there was no way of pushing him off another time.
[color=floralwhite]“see you on the other side, johnny,” alex said, voice sounding almost as if it was coming from another room. time seemed to distort, and his senses began to dull severely.
john’s vision faded entirely, then his consciousness, then his memory.
