The purple tom furrowed his brow. Hadn't this person just returned? If so, they were doing far from the best job from staying here.
Perhaps that was a bit rude. On the other hand, perhaps it wasn't. Regardless, René continued to look confused, almost as if he did not understand the situation-- although he did. One could ask why he was acting confused. Who knows for sure.
