it's nearly been a month. a month since she quite literally died and came back to life. a month since she got her burns. a month and she's finally began to properly heal, all because she had been trapped within the submarine with the flu and no other choice but to rest, as much as she tried to avoid it. even now, at the slightest signs of improvement, she began to get back into her workaholic habits. she couldn't quite help it. bad habits die hard.
something goldie had really, really missed since all of this was swimming. she loved the ocean and the water, even despite the bad memory of her own death occurring because of it. to make up for it, the girl had been reading even more about fishes and learning about different types. she was practically a marine biologist at this point. it was simply one of the few things she actually felt interested in reading. usually it was hard for her to read anything other than picture books, but for some reason learning about animals and nature - especially the ocean was incredibly interesting.
she knew she still couldn't quite swim as she eyed the water. her injuries, while better, were still healing. she may cause more damage or worry her family if she did it. plus, her electric elementals didn't exactly cooperate with her in water. her surroundings became wet and suddenly she was lightning striking water, her electricity spreading around her with little control. it would be irresponsible for her to go swimming.
still, she could not help but miss it. so, today, she left lynn at home and would stand at the shore. she allowed her paws to touch the water, her electricity already starting to spread from them and injuries glowing underneath her bandages. she decided to let some of the energy out by pushing it on the sand around her, causing the sand to jump up and turn slightly into quartz shards. she then put her paws back in the water, the sparks and glowing lessening. she looked longingly towards the water, trying to pick out things she could see underneath the clear blue.

NOTHING'S EVER LOST FOREVER, IT'S JUST HIDING IN THE RECESS OF YOUR MIND AND WHEN YOU NEED IT, IT WILL COME TO YOU AT NIGHT. I MISS THE YELLOW. I MISS THE YELLING AND THE SHAKEDOWN. I'M NOT COMPLAINING, NO, I GOT A BETTER SET OF KNIVES NOW. I MISS MY DRUMMER, MY DEAD STEPBROTHER, AND THE PIT CROWD. AND CHUCK AND MATTY - IF THEY COULD SEE ME THEY'D BE SO PROUD.
