[font=trebuchet ms]Sure enough, within a few moments the rain began to pour down on the earth below. Off in the distance, Paper could see a flash of forked light, and hear the roar of thunder reverberate through the temple. Narrowing his eyes, he glanced down at the ground below the steps, watching water droplets pound the blades of grass and cling to fallen twigs.
He inhaled deeply through his nose, letting the fresh scent of rain clear away the lingering odor of dead fish- and paused, blinking. No, that couldn’t be right. Frowning, he sniffed the air again, turning his head in different directions as he did so. Perhaps he was imagining things, but he thought he could pick up the scent of jaguar- a species that he was certain was not currently represented in the Typhoon. If there really was another creature present, though... then where was it?
Baring his teeth, he growled, ”Who’s there?” If he was about to be attacked, his attacker definitely wasn’t going to show themselves- but he glared down at the trees in front of the temple anyway, watching for any signs of movement. Maybe he could startle them into giving themselves away.
If he was just imagining things again, then... oh, well.
