When they had been so ready to take him in, however, he was slightly surprised. In his opinion, it was stupid of them to not be wary. Maybe it was just the way the war had shaped him, but either way, he was used to not trusting those he just met. People had to prove themselves, confirm their trustworthiness before he even thought about being at ease around them. That was even truer now that he had Eta, the fearful AI that they were.
As he waited for the tour back, The Meta carefully watched as someone new approached, studying their movements. When they grew closer, he became stiff, not comfortable with having someone so close to him, especially a stranger. He probably would have lashed out if Sigma's voice didn't echo inside his mind, warning him to calm himself. They wouldn't be getting anywhere if they attacked one of their members. So, he simply grunted in discomfort, allowing him to clamber over him.
"That information is classified, but I assure you all, our mission has nothing to do with you or your group. We're simply...looking for some people, nothing more," the monkey explains, recognizing his moment to break in before things got out of hand. "And his armor is for protection, of course. But if it were to put you at ease, he can take off his helmet, at least," would Meta actually do that? No, probably not. But still, Sigma was willing to tell them whatever they wanted to hear, simply for the chance of getting a place to stay.
