before dying and being reincarnated as bubs he was an unnamed crossroads demon
lost travelers and simply those seeking a thrill would make contracts with him; whether it be for them to find their way or some other petty doings. in return, he asked for their souls. they were often desperate enough to accept. some would try to avoid him for the rest of their lives, but no matter what he found and reaped his end of the deal
he can sort of remember this life, but doesnt know how he died or came to be

contracts can still be made with him, and he still asks for their life in return
but he never follows up on it unless he really wants to

- used to be an alcoholic; he still drinks from time to time, but it doesnt really do anything for him now
- hates being relied on or having responsibility because he doesnt think he deserves that amount of trust
- has a huge soft spot for children and wishes he could protect them all from their shitty world
- used to be absolutely ruthless when the exiles were still big and active; he still is, but doesnt get as much of a kick from capturing/torturing/killing as he did when he was younger
- doesnt think he deserves to be loved, but at the same time yearns for it
- ^ when lirim died he lost all of his self esteem and fell into a deep depression and still hasnt fully recovered from it

human au headcanons? not sure if i wanna confirm them but theyre cool concepts

- was a mafia underboss at 17, still has a few ties/does some dirty work for them
- probably retired his position when he got married and had kids
- still pretty respected probably? at least among the ones that remember him
- kicked someone off the roof of a building once
- history in the mafia is probably how he got his fortune
- the way he dresses kind of has a mafia boss feel to it, as well as just the general way he carries himself


few more human au notes, these are actual facts/not headcanons

- doesnt drink much, but when he does, he gets very fine whiskey; usually neat
- occasional smoker
- smells like expensive cologne and coffee; sometimes cigarettes if he just had one
- shaves very often cause if he doesnt he gets half a beard in like two days
- usually has dark circles around his eyes due to lack of sleep
- has a habit of twisting his wedding ring when nervous or stressed
