frankly, goldie did not respect caesar in the slightest. the fact that he was a higher position than her made no impact on her opinion and didn't change the fact she refused to do as he told her to in most situations. sure, maybe he could get her in trouble at some point, but she didn't even really care about that. she wouldn't follow the orders of someone she did not respect. she had tried really hard to respect him before papa died, but all of the effort fell apart the moment she saw he didn't care.
she had sensed somebody was there just before they revealed themself. she figured it was a crewmate and would simply turn her head, about to greet them in a friendly manner, before next thing she knew, she was on the ground. at first, she didn't know how to react. why was caesar pinning her? "what are you doing?" she hissed defensively in confusion. she wanted to push him off of her - she didn't want him to touch her at all. she had yet to do any sort of training, besides, ironically, the defense training that caesar had demonstrated to the crew. plus, she was still growing. she was smaller than caesar, even if she was more muscled than him. she was at a disadvantage here. still, she would attempt to push him off. she would be lucky if it worked, though.

NOTHING'S EVER LOST FOREVER, IT'S JUST HIDING IN THE RECESS OF YOUR MIND AND WHEN YOU NEED IT, IT WILL COME TO YOU AT NIGHT. I MISS THE YELLOW. I MISS THE YELLING AND THE SHAKEDOWN. I'M NOT COMPLAINING, NO, I GOT A BETTER SET OF KNIVES NOW. I MISS MY DRUMMER, MY DEAD STEPBROTHER, AND THE PIT CROWD. AND CHUCK AND MATTY - IF THEY COULD SEE ME THEY'D BE SO PROUD.
