[font=trebuchet ms]Luna's pregnancy had been coming along fairly well, with no complications so far- Rin could tell the kits would be due any day now, but there didn't seem to be anything to worry about.
Sure enough, as Rin finally arrived on the scene, she could see that Luna and the two living kits were perfectly fine. Though she instinctively took a long look at the two that had been cast aside, she could tell already from their stench that they had been dead to begin with. It was one thing to feel guilty for Starrynight, but stillbirth was a fact of life, and one that nothing could be done about.
Turning her gaze to the living children, she smiled softly. Moments like this- the creation of new life, as unfamiliar and potentially-terrifying as it was to all involved- were worth whatever sort of pain life could throw at a person. The children would learn that in time; whatever darkness they faced, the motley crew of misfits that they called family would be there to show them the light.
Tearing her thoughts away from her faux-philosophical soliloquy, Rin spoke up, "If you need anything else- at any time- just let me know." Some mothers required borage to produce enough milk, if she recalled correctly, and there were probably other herbs that were useful for child-rearing. It seemed obvious that she would provide whatever Luna needed, but she felt the need to make it clear anyway, just as a matter of principle.
