" AND I WOKE UP TO THE SUNRISE! I WOKE UP TO YOUR GOODBYES! "
The concept of war was one that he recognized but did not understand. He had been in a more passive war between his people ages past, and in a few short battles on the sea as he had made his way to the mainland. He had never been in a war as big or as dangerous as this. If he could've heard, the siren would have caught on earlier that they needed to gather.
In fact the only thing that alerted him to everything was the fact that a lot of people and bodies were milling about on a path to the meeting spot. Frowning at the movements, leaving his sunbathing spot for the meeting, tailing at the back and struggling to read the Captain's lips. Blinking and lowering his head after a while of strained squinting with a dismayed expression. From what he'd seen and bits of information from observing those near him, he put together that they were launching a raid on their swamp 'neighbours' to retrieve lost friends and family, that they needed more higher ranks, and there were some nasty characters out and about. He wasn't so sure about the things to look out for were, but he had a feeling that he would enjoy everything regardless. Maybe he should host a few parties or events to help everyone feel less stressed.
Spotting Dorothy he observed the drippy icecream cat before she left, spotting Cyprian next with a friendly tail wag in greeting. The language barrier was embarrassing, he wanted to be able to talk to others but nobody seemed to really know how to use sign language. Perhaps he could hold a lesson on it?
Looking around at the other faces around, looking up at their Captain with concern. Would everything be alright? How many of their own would they end up burying at the end of this war? An uneasy whine escaped the siren, ears pinning to his head. Shaking his head with a huff, thinking to himself. Maybe he should tryout for some low rank? That way if the others didn't like his help, then it wouldn't be a big deal to step down or back out.

BUT I STILL NEED YOU TO EASE MY LOAD, HOLD ME CLOSE WHEN THE LIGHTNING STRIKES, LEAD ME HOME WHEN I DON'T KNOW WHICH WAY IS RIGHT. LOVE ME WHEN IT'S HARD, I PROMISE THAT I'M NOT LEAVING FROM YOUR SIDE. AND WHEN I FALL APART, PROMISE IN THE DARK YOU'LL BE MY NIGHTLIGHT.
