The star-maned lion walked through the beach’s fine sand. His paws and hooves left their characteristic tracks behind, their daily proof of his morning patrol. So much of leadership required illusions and symbols, it was exhausting to consider them all. But leaving his unique footprints was one such symbol.
Meteor stopped when he drew close to the tiny feline. His golden eyes narrowed against the sunlight glaring off the ocean—and in suspicion. Ever since their raid on the larger group’s meeting, strangers washed up here. The Pitt’s visit he’d expected. But not the stragglers hoping to join.
“Do you know where you are, tiny queen?” Meteor asked. His lips curled up in an amused grin as he read the bandana’s lettering. “Is that a coincidence or are you a fan of our rituals?”
