ATTICUS ROUX -
Atticus had been exploring the territory when Pere met his gaze. In pain and troubled, he offered a shoulder to lean on and a place to stay: his cabin. As the two shifted through the mist, he tried to stay close to her side and let her body weight press against his. She was cold. Soft, even. Distressed, obviously. He had never planned to rescue someone today and offer them a home, but something about her and her story caused him to grow soft. Despite his troubles, Atticus' heart lent itself to whoever came near. At his best, he was a peacekeeper and a helper. Today was no different.
At her call and the lack of bells jingling, he stopped. His gaze travelled back to her lantern, watching as the candle's flam started to turn to smoke and dissipate in the mist. "That's fine," he mumbled back. Atticus noticed he had travelled further forward and backtracked, offering his short and thick body to be leaned on with a vague gesture of his paw. They only had a few more minutes before the border and then reaching his cabin where she could rest while he got the herbalist.
Whether or not she leaned on him, the other let out a groan. He extended his neck out and cracked it with a twist of his head. "Not too far now, okay?" Atticus reassured. Stretched out and feeling relieved, he offered some advice. "Take all the time you need, but the longer you spend on that foot, you're bound to feel worse."
