THE WAVES WILL BREAK! -- hellhound. regent.

he had been watching this penguin for some time, determining if it was prey or a sentient creature. a low growl escaped the hellhound as he moved through the snows and ice of his land, dark pelt hidden by the yellow-white fur of a polar bear, his own short fur a curse in the frozen lands of the north. slowly, the regent would move closer, his eyes fixed on the penguin, wondering how penguin meat would taste and licking his lips as he stalked the innocent trespasser.

as he crept closer, he would inhale her scent and rumble uncertainly. surely, this morsel had to be prey, right? he didn't want to chase off potential food ... especially not something as unique as this. but, she was alone, so she had a fair chance of being sentient right? there weren't any other penguins around, but the arrival of one led him to have hopes of there being an ocean somewhere, of a massive body of water. swallowing as he moved closer, edging around a boulder and slowly stepping onto the ice before his paw slipped and he was sent crashing down onto his shoulder with a pain-filled bark. well, there went his chances of supper, she probably would have run off now that he was revealed.
