REACH OUT THINE RIGHTEOUSNESS
the travel had been long and the journey even longer, the cramming of bodies so close together sure to aggravate even the most steady-headed of them all. he was no exception, except that bird kept his tongue tied and mouth shut, only speaking up when tempers got too hot and fur began to fly. he couldn't blame any of them, the weather wasn't helping and the cries of hungry mouths filled his ears.
gently pushing his muzzle through the throng of furry bodies around him, green eyes squinting against the sun's rays that broke through from the branches far above the cats. standing there for a moment in an area that was less crowded with bodies, he shook out his weary paws that ached down to the very bones of his toes, giving his chest a few locks to flatten the fur there.
turning his head back to the group of settling cats of all ages, his ears swiveled and he looked away. there would be no prey here unless it was deaf and blind, he would have to move out elsewhere. he knew he didn't need to tell anyone of his departure, if they were looking for him then they would have to wait until he returned. that, and the forest surrounding them beckoned to the small tom, the scent of spring thick in the air. making his own path amongst the trees, the tom would inhale deeply, looking for any prey scent that caught his attention. ears swiveling as he heard soft chirping, the male slowly heading towards the area where a sparrow was pecking at seeds.
