The faerie grew restless.  Antsy.  Angry.  She should've been home.  Safe.  I swear I'll kill him.  The pirate finally lost his patience sometime after their raid.  Sea-green eyes glinting dangerously in the dark, the feline traveled from shore to the outskirts of the desert.  There he lingered, waiting out the night.

Unlike his twin, Kian made for a poor spy. While Séamus mastered stealth, he became a soldier.  A direct combatant.  A leader.  Even in his time as a pirate captain, he relied very minimally on espionage.  No need to be sneaky when you commanded the best of the best, had the advantage already... And, in general, really: not to him.  As such, the best he could do, for the most part, was wait.  Wait and think.  Wait and listen.

    God, this is torture.

    ☠
Was it dread making his gut churn?  Disappontment?  Guilt?  Hard to say, afterall Séamus excelled at ignoring such bothersome emotions as remorse.  Yet his stomach still felt twisted, only adding to the discomfort of every wound marring his body.  Blood staining his red fur and feathers.  Left ear shredded.  Each step a pain, but they'd been so close to free, hardly appropriate to give up.  Home, he'd promised, and home they'd reach if he had to die to get there.

Funny.  Since when did he view the Typhoon as an actual home rather than just a dwelling place?  The endfield winced as he set his paws on the ground, one step after the other.  Shouldn't have let us get ambushed... They had not stood a chance after all, especially after their tussle with Quinn and the marauder's daughter.  Indeed, despite the pain from his own wounds, Keona worried him more than anything else.

No option but to carry her, ever conscious of the way her tiny form swayed in his grip, teeth gently holding her by the scruff.  At least the desert sands began fading to green.  Hard to say how many miles to go now.  Less than before at the very least.

In the dark, the faerie saw the glint of familiar eyes.  Like looking into a mirror.  A very unhappy mirror.  Feck.  Now his stomach twisted for another reason.  No surprise, considering Kian's famous patience only stretched so far.  He supposed the fact Kian ran into them here was a better alternative to him attempting to break into the Pitt by himself without warning his twin ahead of time.

"... Kian," his words muffled by fur, Séamus flicked his ear, grimancing at the movement.  Very, very slowly, he lowered Keona to the ground before standing up straight.  In this form, he well towered over his twin.  Still, he felt small, eyes dark.  "... Deartháir..."

"An ndéanann sé difríocht má tá brón orm?" Doubtful.  Worth asking.  The pirate's voice was slow and distant.  Remorse.  What a foreign feeling.  He did not like it.  Vindictive too.  Vengeful.  He wanted to track down that dragon... He grits his teeth.  "Kian... Ní mór dúinn cabhair a fháil." A medic's help specifically.  He didn't know how much blood he'd lost. He didn't know if Keona was okay, just that she was most certainly hurt after already pushing her body to the limit against Bryn.

Perhaps this was a little bit his fault.  He could have grabbed Keona during the raid and get out.  Valkyr had been out there... A potential nuisance, given his mental abilities.  If anything, they'd be about evenly matched.  No, Séamus had decided to wait.  Wait to become a more familiar 'member'.  Waited so Keona would grow more attached to him without Kian around.  Selfish? Perhaps.  Hardly his fault they did not know for sure who her father was.  A point he'd happily bring up if he felt a little stronger.

    "Tá brón orm."

✯ — keona sibéal ó faoláin. female. striker of the typhoon. blind. rusty spotted cat.  ref. bio.
Hard to say what did the girl in.  The exhaustion.  The sudden ambush by Argus.  Despite the pain of every breath, she'd dropped like a log at the end of it all.  The smell of blood haunted her fitful sleep however, and the kitten's every breath came out shallow.  The sound of voices talking brought her back to consciousness, though it was unlike to last.

Everything ached.  Her muscles burned and every rise and fall of her chest brought nothing but pain.  The phantom pains of her uncle's injuries plagued her as well as did the metallic scent of his blood.  Her ears perked in curiosity.  Not another threat... No.  "... D-da?"

Could it really be?  Didn't make a lot of sense to her.  Her da was supposed to be at the Typhoon, right?  Unless he came to rescue me.  The faerie had long since accepted it was down to her and her uncle after the raid.  What could her father do against an entire clan?  Of course... Hadn't she and Séamus gone against them in a way? Granted, very sneakily in the night.  They'd still been forced to deal with two.

Even so, the way everything hurt... Wasn't their doing.

Her ears flicked back, her pale sea-green hues luminous with all of the anxiety, pain and exhaustion that came with their flight from the Pitt.  Not far enough away yet... We need to go farther...

"... Baile?" I don't want to be here anymore.
