MORGAN HEIGHTS
[align=center]
Welcome to Morgan Heights, a small town tucked in a deep, lush forest. The locals here are always friendly, unless you happen to participate in acts of injustice or you become a target through one of their visions. Their highest priority is justice and they’ll stop at nothing to make sure it’s achieved. On the surface, Morgan Heights likely seems to be a sleepy town in the middle of nowhere, relatively untouched by the fall of humanity. However, anyone hoping to join this sanctuary will find there’s much more waiting beneath the surface.
Morgan Heights was a normal town for the majority of their history. However, they watched as other similar governments became corrupt and turned against their citizens in their greatest times of need. They didn’t want their own town to suffer the same fate and so they opted to drop a traditional government in favor of a new hierarchy that better suited their needs. As time went on, they also decided they wanted to make sure that in this time of need, injustice didn’t come upon those that were less fortunate in such dire circumstances. This was when they began to do what some might refer to as vigilante work.
While they were at first hesitant about the idea of magic, they soon embraced them as skills that made their lives easier to live in this world. They also took it as confirmation that they should be seeking justice for all people, and began the work they continue to this day.
Morgan Heights is a small town tucked in a lush forest, which is part of the reason they were relatively untouched when the world crashed to a halt. They felt the effects just as anyone else, but they had much more time to prepare for it. Due to the fact that Morgan Heights never really fell, most of the buildings are in pristine condition. So, it maintains the look of a small town among the trees.
The Meeting Hall
The meeting hall is an old train station that has fallen out of use since the fall. There was a former meeting hall for the city council and mayor prior to the change of ideology, but once Morgan Heights left behind conventional government, they decided they no longer wanted to meet there. Not only that, but should anyone ever invade due to their vigilante-like actions, the thought was that they’d go for what appeared to be the main government building before an abandoned train station that now has very little use.
Greenhouses
Due to the fact that Morgan Heights experiences all four seasons and they still need food in the colder months, several different flower and landscaping shops in the area were converted into greenhouses that primarily store food, although they also contain plants that can be used medicinally.
Pelleas Lake
This is the lake where the Lady of the Lake ceremony is often held, although not always. This is usually because there is an abundance of Recilium flowers, which is what the locals refer to as the plant used in the ceremony itself. It’s believed to be a derivative of primroses that has changed since the fall to grant temporary visions. They are relatively small flowers that come in a variety of colors, although they always have a ring of white in the center. The most common colors are a vibrant blue, yellow, or green. During the night, these flowers can also be identified by their glow.
This lake is believed by most to have magical or spiritual properties. Most animals avoid this lake for some reason but when one is seen, it’s often viewed as an omen. Depending on the animal, it may be interpreted as good or bad. The lake is nothing less than sacred to the people of Morgan Heights and it’s taken care of on a regular basis. It’s not unusual for high positions in Morgan Heights to visit in search of advice from whatever greater beings may reside there.
Papaver’s Clearing
This clearing contains a multitude of poppy flowers. Various festivals are often held here, especially if they’re meant to have spiritual significance. It’s also believed that if one camps here for a night, it increases their chance of getting the vision necessary to gain their Reckoning Wings.
Peony (HP)
Peony flowers are said to keep away evil spirits and protect gardens they dwell in. In the same way, the leader of Morgan Heights is expected to look after the people that live there and make sure that no harm comes to them.

The fern is the head of the strategy division. In folklore, it’s said that one must not talk too close to a fern for fear their secrets may be heard by fairies. In the same way, the Fern of the group makes sure that Morgan Heights has all the information it needs to bring about justice. They cover espionage, general defense, and making sure everyone is prepared for a fight if there ever should be one.
Currently: TBA, played by TBA
Foxglove (SHP)
Foxgloves, while deadly, are also plants said to be worn by fairies. This semi-high position is in the strategy division, which means they aid with training the general populace and gathering information.

Periwinkle (HP)
Perwinkles are popular and ornamental plants that have been used in various cultures for centuries. The Periwinkle in Morgan Heights is supposed to bring joy to the whole community, as the head of the community segment. They host various events, try to encourage positive foreign relations, and try to create a welcoming environment.
Currently: TBA, played by TBA
Iris (SHP)
Iris flowers are usually the first flowers to bloom in the spring and are usually an omen of hope. The Iris rank in Morgan Heights is meant for those who want to be part of the community department and bring joy to those around them. They’re expected to follow the Periwinkle’s orders and train under them.
Currently: TBA, played by TBA
Bluebell (HP)
Bluebells are said to be omens of death, especially when found in large groups. The Bluebell of Morgan Heights is supposed to have knowledge of both cures and poisons, as the head of the medical department. They are also in charge of training any Clovers.
Currently: TBA, played by TBA
Clover (SHP)
Clovers are believed to bring good luck and have the ability to break spells. Clovers in Morgan Heights are the medical trainees, expected to learn under the Bluebells about medicine while also helping run the greenhouses and performing small medical procedures when instructed to do so.
Currently: TBA, played by TBA
Changeling
Named after the actions of the Fae in some folklore, this shows off the more chaotic side of Morgan Heights. They take children from homes where they’ve been injured or hurt by the parents (or where they predict they may be harmed in the future) and bring them to their town. There, they spread them with various spices and herbs believed to have spiritual significance in that they cleans the child and allow it to live a free, happy life in Morgan Heights.
Beltane
A festival held once a year on May 1st. Due to the fact the majority of Morgan Heights believes that their new powers are of the magical sort, they celebrate this day as when realms came close enough together for them to gain their abilities that aid them in this new world.
Tree of Life
A tree was painted in the abandoned station where meetings are held by Alianna, the daughter of current Peony Eliora, and it was suggested by her that every new member and current resident of Morgan Heights dip their hands in paint and add a hand print as a 'leaf' to the tree. With passing generations, the tree will grow even larger and more colorful as new residents join the town. Every new member (or individual who hasn't done it yet) has the opportunity to take part in this tradition at the end of every meeting.
Lady of the Lake Ceremony
Another tradition named after legends of old, this one is an initiation. When someone reached adulthood or first joins Morgan Heights, they’re expected to travel to a nearby body of freshwater (most often Pelleas Lake) after eating Recilium flowers, a plant only found near Morgan Heights. They must find the flowers for themselves and prepare it in whatever way they see fit. Once they’ve ate it, they must go completely underwater. There they will receive a vision of what is believed to be the possible outcomes of their future, should they stay in Morgan Heights. Once the vision is complete, they either collect a small crystal figurine that seems to have just appeared on the shore or they never return to camp and choose to leave in hopes of a better fate. These crystals are usually something natural, such as plants and animals, but they could be anything. These are thought to hold the key to something about the individual’s future, although it usually isn’t clear what.
Wing Festival
A the end of every month, Morgan Heights hosts a celebration where their members receive different pins of wings in various colors (a full guide can be seen below). New members also receive jackets during these ceremonies, which will correspond with whatever career path they’ve chosen (red for strategizing, blue for medical, and yellow for community). The most important of these wings are the Reckoning Wings, which have a specific process to gain, which is detailed below.
The festival itself is full of dancing and good food and is expected to be a time for celebrating all that has happened over the past month.
Reckoning Wings
The Reckoning Wings can only be received once and, unlike the other wings, must be gained through a specific process. Legend says that each member of Morgan Heights is granted a vision of someone who has done immense wrong and who must be brought to justice. It’s up to them what this means exactly, whether it be trying to turn them from their evil past or taking their life. They must bring evidence of whatever’s been done, whether it is a finger from their target or proof of their good deeds and reformed life. After showing this proof, they are then granted Reckoning Wings.
While there’s no set time for this vision, most seem to receive it after gaining a semi-high position but before become a full high position. However, there are still many that receive it outside of that timespan, or it may take them until after being promoted to complete the mission, for whatever reason.
Mordred’s Bane
As a group that highly upholds justice, if anyone is caught committing an act of injustice (such as murder for the wrong reason, stealing selfishly, or harming an innocent), then they are subject to Mordred’s Bane. In this tradition, the individual is taken to Papaver’s Clearing where they are locked in a large cage with someone else who has also committed awful deeds. There they must fight until one or both of them dies. This is believed to be right because it allows one person to choose to amend their deeds, while a sacrifice is still given for their actions. The one who remains alive is then released, although they may not return to Morgan Heights for at least one month. At the end of that month, they may return if they bring proof that they have turned from their ways.
Reckoning Wings
The Reckoning Wings are a bright pink color with gold outlines. They are by far the most ornamental. The process for getting these wings can be read in the traditions section.
Gold Wings
These wings are given to anyone who has been involved in Morgan Heights for six months.
Silver Wings
These wings are given to anyone who has shown extensive medical knowledge.
Red Wings
These wings are given to anyone who has shown great skill in fighting.
Black Wings
These wings are given to anyone who has proven at least once they’re capable of gathering information secretly for Morgan Heights.
Blue Wings
These wings are given to anyone who has participated in the Changeling tradition and saved a child.
Yellow Wings
These wings are given to anyone who is particularly helpful and friendly.
