a soft patting sound could be heard as a small platypus wandered across the lands. simply not stopping for long and looking rather unsure. she moved to the boarder where she settled in and let those green eyes scan.

she had no idea how to talk to these people. she hardly spoke and when she did it was so broken she felt sick. so, she became mute to hide that shame. yet, she never figured out how to tell others things. so, this was all a gamble. they could eat her or try to understand her. time would tell, right?

THE WAVES WILL BREAK! -- hellhound. regent.

the desire to hide a broken voice, was one he had known very well at one time. he'd never forgotten the brutal embarrassment of that time, and the shame. it had been a lifetime since then and he'd learned how to recover with the help of his loved ones, but he'd never forgotten it. there were still nights he awoke gasping for breath and trying to scream for help, for help that would never come, for help that he would never have again. those nights left him a mess for days, keeping from the public eye, ashamed and worn out.

it had been some time since he'd had a night like that, leaving him to exist in relative peace without fear making itself known to him in the presence of memories dredged up in nightmares. it would be some cruel fate, but they plagued him without rest, the memories he wished he could forget. taking a breath as he walked, holding it and releasing it, ignoring the shadows at the edges of his vision, ignoring the swelling visuals of those dreams, shaking his head to try and disperse the creeping memories, almost stumbling over the platypus at the border. blinking a few times as he stared down at her, his ears swiveling backwards as he stared before clearing his throat, "hello?", he sounded unsure of his greeting, lost between reality and the past.

a creature almost walked on her and she let out a squeak. then, they greeted her and she waved a webbed paw. "hello." that was one word she could handle. it was simple. now to try and convey her name and purpose. she could handle it, but anything further was not likely.

"splash.. pelt join?" she asked with that struggling tone. feeling heat wash through her. she was embarrassed.
