She felt most at home in the cold, at high altitudes, with a breeze disturbing the thin air. Steep surfaces, stone, dirt and bark alike, brought her a certain ease despite the danger they posed at times. She couldn't spend all her time in such environments, since she had a group to find food and patrol for, but it was a fair alternative to sleep when sleep wouldn't come.
Leaping from branch to branch across the forest, Straw mused to herself that maybe she ought to try asking the medics, or the closest people Elysium had to medics, for sleep aids. Even if she didn't feel tired, going too long without actual rest would probably have consequences. Maybe poppy seeds would do the trick, but she didn't want to take them without asking.
One false step sent her tumbling off the branch to the floor below, landing in the grass with a thud. Inhaling sharply, she curled up and stifled a cry of pain. She'd taken worse spills before- she was probably fine- but it was never pleasant to be on a roll, only to slip and hit the ground. Gritting her teeth beneath the mask, she rolled onto her front and slowly stood up. Her right shoulder twinged, but if she could stand on all four limbs, probably nothing was broken.
"I used to be good at this..." she murmured to herself, as quietly as possible, even though no one was around to hear. Force of habit, she supposed. Shaking her head, she glanced up at the sky. The stars were out, but the moon was dark. It was around midnight, if she had to guess.
Maybe she should head back. Nodding to herself, Straw turned and started walking back to camp, careful not to put too much weight on the shoulder she'd landed on.
