Alarm Bells Ringing | Meeting 12.8

[ATTICUS]

―――― This was now to be his first official meeting, and all things considering, there wasn't that much to say. Certainly this week had been busy for many, (hope you college students did well on your finals!), and perhaps a bit quiet around the Ascendants, but at least there was no completely hopeless news that he had to share. "Ascendants, gather," his voice would call as he stood quietly up in the observatory, among the usual meeting place. He was trying to get used to all of this, but it still felt a bit strange. He waited for some minutes, quietly sat back on his haunches so everyone could gather without having to rush, eventually drawing in a breath as he began.

"Another week has passed. I know it has been rather busy around here as of late, but I thank you all for being around as much as you could. Let's see if we can make next week even better," it was an idle sentiment, one greeted with a faint touch of a smile. "On that topic, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Susie, and "B." We're glad to have you." He dipped his head faintly, should the two of them be somewhere amidst the crowd, giving a pause to allow that information to settle before he continued on.

"There's a few changes this week. The first is that we are now neutrals with Sunhaven. I know that we have has some issues with them in the past, however, Bucky has shown to be an admirable leader; and, it is only a neutrality. I have hope we might be allies one day, but for now, it's simply no more than removing a target from our back. If you have interest in becoming an Ambassador for them, they will be added to our roster shortly. On the same train of thought, however, some Sunhaveners were killed, and the scent of the Ascendants was left. I have no inclination to believe that anyone standing in this room could have done it, but someone has returned to try and turn us back into enemies. But I urge caution,  if you are going to be at our border alone, until it can be discussed further." Now, what else was there?

"The Holiday Choice awards are still on-going. Feel free to participate if you have not already. Also, the title system is being changed- only simplified. That will be implimented right after this meeting. There is also a similar discussion on-going for our pendant system and our traditions; I highly encourage you to participate and provide feedback on what you would like to see in the Ascendants. I also need someone to host weekly tasks, and there is now a sign-up thread for that as well."

He took in a breath, unused to talking so much, but trying to remain straight to the point rather than babbling on. "No demotions this week, but again I encourage activity from everyone moving forward. Regardless, I am pleased to see how welcoming our community is, despite being busy this week, thank you very much. Shoutout goes to Clarence." His gaze wandered the room for but a moment, considering any loose ends he might have forgotten. "That is all, unless there are any questions, you are dismissed."

[align=center][div style="width: 45%; text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: times new roman;"]Clarence was called by Atticus' voice and made his way over as quickly as he could, settling down. As the man went into announcements of all kinds, Clarence quickly came to the conclusion this must be some sort of update to make sure everyone was informed. When he'd been a human, he had to attend more than a few meetings and they weren't always the most exciting things, but he had to admit it was nice to see there was some sort of schedule here. At the mention of the new neutral status with Sun Haven, he once again felt rather pleased about the situation. Peace was always better than being at war, in his opinion. Unfortunately, that good new was followed quickly by the recent murders and he only found himself nodding in understanding. He wasn't sure what was causing the situation but he was sure the groups would be able to work together to remedy it as soon as possible. At least, that was what he hoped. There was then some talk of traditions and titles and awards and, quite frankly, he wasn't sure what all of that meant, but it sounded interesting enough. He was sure he'd start understanding more of the customs here as time went on. Then, at the very end, his own name was mentioned and he simply responded with a light nod of gratitude. He lingered for a moment afterwards, though, waiting to hear if anyone else would mention anything.

Quite honestly, Atbash was not happy to hear the sound of Atticus's voice calling for a meeting. In fact, the she-cat was dreading the meeting. She knew she hadn't been around as often as she should have been, and she knew that Atticus was understanding, but still - she was worried. Regardless, Atbash made her way over, swallowing down the rising anxiety in her chest as she took a seat, ears pricked to listen to the leader's words.

His announcement regarding their neutrality with Sunhaven was reassuring - not only did Atbash had good relations with them due to being a former leader of Snowbound (and thus interacted with Sunhaven a lot), but Wendell lived there. Wendell was one of her friends, one of the few former Snowbounders that remained. The news of the murder in Sunhaven was concerning though and Atbash frowned, her short tail flicking in thought. Who would do such a thing? Not only was it murder, but they were potentially fucking up an alliance.

One that should last forever.
