// wanted to explore this side of Myliu now that my other character is up and going >:3 Feel free to come in and intervene, you have permission to power play anything that won’t injure him since the rabbit at this point is a bloody pulp and he’s obviously,,, in a bad place. And once again for clarity, nothing but the rabbit is real, none of the visions or voices or faces are things others can see.
It was impossible to forget.
Before it had always stopped at the voices, whispers that pervaded his senses and forced him to listen to them one way or another. The voices were often quiet enough that they became white noise, repeating things Myliu couldn’t concentrate on for his lack of understanding. His days usually passed by seamlessly, and he could integrate as best he could into the clan life with what he had available to him. An analytical mind, poor conversational skills, and a constant sense of unease and distrust. It wasn’t a lot, and there wasn’t room for any of that really in this kind of group setting… which was why he always appeared either early to a scene or not at all, to avoid unnecessary crowds that made the voices louder and filled him with feelings he couldn’t yet understand or give definition to.
None of them were positive, that was all he knew.
But on occasion the voices turned violent. The whispers slowly started to fade out, replaced gradually by screams that left his ears ringing and his own mouth agape, yearning to cry but without making a sound. It was usually paired with the flames that swallowed everything whole, as faces ran to find shelter only to be murdered on the spot as well. Sometimes the cries came without warning, sometimes there was no hallucination to pair with them… but one thing always remained constant no matter what happened that caused them.
The anger.
It was a deep, all consuming rage that seemed to grow with each time the screams came up, building inside of the child and festering like a disease, waiting for the day that it would all bubble over and he’d do things he had thus far deemed unimaginable.
There was more to the child than what others saw. Versailles was one of the most sensible people without even knowing it, wary of his presence and trying to actively avoid it whenever she could. He was dangerous. He was rage. He was every untamed spirit left unhinged by a world hungry for power, thrust into one small body that didn’t remember where it was from or who it really was.
They had murdered him. He remembered this, even if he didn’t explicitly connect the information together to realize this. But his soul never forgot, and it screamed. It screamed like the voices screamed now, fires burning everything in his path, cries both pained and wrathful filling his ears and smoke filling his lungs until the fire seemed to burn within him as well.
He didn’t forget, yet he also didn’t understand, and that made for a dangerous combination, especially during moments when reality blended into fiction, and Myliu couldn’t tell anything apart.
It had started as it usually did, softly and without warning. The voices started getting urgent and afraid, leaving one by one until eventually a heavy, thick silence surrounded Myliu on all sides. The pressure was sickening, the panic slow but sure to settle in, and it took no longer than a few minutes for the soft, hushed sobs to trickle in.
This was different, however. There was no screaming, although the rage still started to simmer underneath Myliu’s skin despite this. There was only the muted cries of what sounded like a woman, coming from a direction unknown to the child. There were no flames, no running people… the faces peered down at him but said nothing and didn’t interfere as the child wandered, leaving the observatory to try and find the source.
Heavy paws carried him through the territory, gaze distant and bordering on unhinged, ever-following the mysterious crying until he happened upon the faded figure of a woman, holding something to her chest and weeping over it.
A beat passed, then two, as Myliu shifted in discomfort, a dread settling deep in his gut. He didn’t want to ask if she needed help. He didn’t trust her, and didn’t trust this, and didn’t trust how everything else around his was silent to the point of chilling. A cool wind clawed up his spine and left him shuddering, and eventually he surpassed the fear and moved closer, gaze settled intently on the woman’s arms. He didn’t trust them the most.
”Help?” there was no response, only more sobs, but he refused to give up now that he had started. His nose curled in distaste as she seemed to ignore him, anger slowly bubbling up again, and with a snarl he moved forward to headbutt her lightly to force her to pay attention to him.
The world exploded into flames when he did, and Myliu found himself face to face with a mirror image of his visage, although there were no scars that marred his face. The screams started up again as he-but-not-him smiled in a sickly sweet way that made Myliu’s fear spike up and fur stand on end.
”As tave myliu.” He was mocking him. Goading him. Trying to get the rage to finally spill over and for Myliu to finally crack under the pressure of his own mind… and it worked. As the flames rose higher and the screams increased in volume, Myliu could not stop the anger that raged within him, that threatened to hurt everything that had ever hurt him and more, and with a snarl he threw himself at the body in front of him and tore. Tore into it, teeth sharpened by the need for blood, for pain, until he could feel the metallic taste fill not only his mouth but seemingly his entire core, until he was nothing but blood and flesh and bones and Myliu was nothing but a memory.
He tore into the hapless body of the rabbit before him, but he didn’t see what it was in actuality. He kept ripping and tearing into it, killing what he thought was himself.
