//I FORGOT ABOTU THIS SDFGH AND ITS 1AM AGAIN SORRY [member=1489]MARCELLUS[/member]

One of the few things back home that had kept Junior going was reading. Not just any reading, - he wasn't the best at it, and he got bored easy -, but comic books. The pictures were always so colorful, like the ones his mother used to draw, and when he didn't understand a particularly big word, he would just use the drawings for context. Here, however, there wasn't exactly an abundance of comics. Hell, Junior didn't think he'd even seen a book since he'd gotten here, which was a bit odd, considering everyone lived in such close proximity to one another. It wasn't until now, in fact, that he'd spotted anyone reading- or, trying to.

The form of Marcellus was familiar, though he didn't think he knew the other male's name, having only encountered him once or twice since his joining. Brown ears perking in the wildcat's direction, Junior was quick to approach Marcellus, fixing his pale gaze upon what his crewmate had in his paws- a comic book? "Having trouble with that?"
questioned the slightly younger tabby with a small smirk, quirking his brow. If not, and he was reading just fine, Marcellus must have a really, really frustrated-looking resting face.

HEARTFELT PROMISES { .:*・°☆ } ——— TAGS
He was no reader or writer and definitely wouldn't be receiving an award for it any time soon. He had decided to start out easy based on someone recommendation for him and thus he was handed a comic book which was more picture than it was dialogue. He looked at a few pieces of dialogue and tried to figure out what it meant, his eyes narrowing into a squint as he grew more and more frustrated. What the hell How did people any read this stuff. None of the words made sense to him, him spending minutes upon minutes of trying to make sense of all these words but to no avail. He could begin to feel his patience running thin and frustration build up, but he quickly forced himself to calm down and keep trying. He sure as hell wasn't going to injure his pride and let someone teach him so he would have to force himself to learn on his own despite any complications. The male turned a page in the comic book, narrowing his eyes as he forced his face real quick to the book that he was nearly kissing the paper, eyes focused and squinted as he tried to make out what any of those words were and meant.

To say he was startled by Junior was an understatement, being broken out from his focus and forced to land his eyes on the male. Great, just when he was starting to get somewhere. At the question Marcel happened to flinch, clearing his throat and looking back towards the comic book with yet another look of pure frustration. "No." He answered a bit snappy like, as if the question had completely offended him. He took a deep breath and let out a sigh, looking back at Junior. "Sorry, just really into this.. book." A lie not at all well said but a lie nonetheless, huffing as the male forced his paws on the paper to switch to the next page. He didn't even understand what was going on but he wasn't going to let this Junior guy think he was completely brainless and stupid.

The frustration, the defensiveness- it was rather obvious that Junior's initial suspicions had been accurate, but he supposed the guy was embarrassed of it. He didn't blame him, really; reading was a rather common skill - at least, it was back home -, so not being very good at it, or not being able to do it at all was probably a bit bruising to one's ego. Junior could get that, he supposed, but, like, wouldn't he want to learn? The young tabby arched a brow as Marcellus addressed him, trying to force down the smile he felt tugging at the edge of his lips. "Book?" echoed Junior, stepping closer to peer at the pages over the far larger feline's shoulder, allowing his fur to brush against Marcel as he leaned forward ever so slightly. "And what 'book' may that be?" Truth be told, he didn't recognize it - even back home, his access to comics had been pretty limited -, but he hoped its name may ring a bell.
