the woman of shadows left her home silently with the early morning sun her only companion. paws carrying her to her garden for breakfast. she would pick a single rose and settle in the back of her green house. picking the petals off and eating them one by one. her mind wandering as she ate her early morning meal in private.

her mind wandering to angel. she was home and she was thrilled. yet it brought back so many memories that her head still ached. memories of her leadership. she had been a powerful queen once and she wondered if she had ever deserved that rank. she had ruled well and led the clan into power again before she left it in anothers paws.

why had she left it in their paws? she did not recall that, but she left. her husband and kids. her son was a leader after her. a king. her husbands death. her daughters death. all of it came back to her. she hated herself for letting them all down. she failed them andf she knew it.

shaking her head, she looked at the empty stem between her paws. noting the tears running down her face as she stood up and moved towards the exit. she needed to breath. she needed to get out and breath some crisp morning air.

as soon as she was outside the anger bubbled over and she swatted a small pot. watching it shatter on the earth feet away from her. eyes like fire as she watched the peices. how funny it was. that pot was so much like her. it was in peices like herself. it was ruined like her mind was. she was shaking with anger as she turned away to go towards the river. she needed to walk.

so she moved along. she moved and moved and moved. she would stop once she was at the river. lowering her head to drink the cooling waters until.. a sudden pain in her head making her stumble. falling in the shallow water she was next to. ears pinned back and eyes slamming shut.

she remembered. she remembered what happened to her. the river. she was drinking when the attack happened. the attack that pushed her head in. she thrashed. she fought. but.. but he was stronger and she couldn't get away.

he tormented her. letting her up to gasp for air before choking her. then.. then she faded. she faded in the jaws of masanori. she remembered the pain going away and just feeling cold. she remembered it all and she hated it. tears falling as she let her head fall onto her front paws. water running under her chin as she lay there.
