Curved claws dug into the dirt as the coal black beast moved, massive shoulders pushing past foliage and setting small fires that died out quickly. Glowing saliva dropped into the earth as she moved, hungry. Following the trail of what she considered food she continued, stopping as she heard movement up ahead. Eyes, glowing hot orange in the dark foliage, spotted three small felines. Hunger panged in her body, but sympathy rose at the sight of the small blue kitten. She would not eat him. But rather.... yes.
She lunged silently, swatting down the adult male cat with a fierce paw, snapping his back almost instantly. Mother and child tried to run, but Kold bit down on the female's spine, breaking it and tossing her toward her lover. Kold lurched after the bodies, her massive jaws picking up the tiny cat and crunching to make it easier to swallow. And after the feast, the play began.
Acting as though she saw something in the woodwork, she lurched past the hiding child, snarling loudly. Lunging into a nearby thicket, she writhed around and howled in pain, pretending to be attacked while turning into her main form. She even added a sharply cut-off yelp to add to the effect and then fake-limped out of the thicket, covered in blood that was not hers.
Seeing the small kitten emerge, she looked and gasped gently. "Where did you come from..?" She questioned gently, watching as he looked toward the thicket, then back to where his parents had perished. Then, he rushed to her, and she thought he'd attack, but he just gripped her ink-stained leg. Tears pricked at his angled face and, though he was silent, he let out sobs.
Blinking back her shock, she nuzzled him. "I got a place you can stay. I'll take care of you." She waited for him to make an affirming nod before she picked him up in her jaws and started for The Pitt's territory.
Oh, god. How was she going to explain this to Olalla.
