MATTER TURNS TO BATTER // o, Augur tryouts

Before she became leader, there was an Augur. A healer. But, they appeared to be gone now. Or dead. While Runicflare wanted to spend resources to look for their old one, she knew she could not. Therefore, they needed a new one.

The wolf lays down herbs and potions. With a howl, she tries to call her group together. "Recondites! If you’d like to become the new Augur, please meet here!"

It seemed recently they were losing important members of their group. Was he foolish to find their opening to the light and these loses suspiciously in line with one another? Possibly, but he held true to his convictions. What else was he supposed to believe when all he's known of them were monstrous stories? But he tried. He tried to see them as something more, something better, and it was hard.

It was a shame they had lost those members, and a more empathetic part of him wished they would've been able to search for them. To at least learn of their fate. Still, they had to move forward if they were ever going to build themselves up, he knew that much. Especially when a rank as important as Augur needed to be filled. Without any healer, they were doomed to fail. An illness or injury could kill any one of them. So, he was grateful to hear the call from his sister.

He picked up the smell of the herbs a moment later. Some of those scents thrown together made his nose tickle, but he moved from his spot anyway to come closer. He had no desire to go for the position himself, not when he could use his skills where they would be more effective than bandaging others up. However, he would sit by to watch how his sister did and to get a look at those who wanted to take up that responsibility.

Would it be beneficial to Recondite Realm to have a loose canon like Augustus to be the designated healer of the group? Probably not, seeing as he constantly made inventions that failed quite literally all the time, but those "inventions" often ended up hurting him and not others. Though, hypothetically speaking, if he were to become an... Augur and one of his experiments killed him, then it would all be for naught, right?

Well, he guesses he should just be more careful then.

The Dutch scientist makes his way over at Runicflare's call, head inclining faintly to the side as Moonshadow and the femme came within his sight. Eyes of bladed grass flickered over the set up, his eyes particularly falling upon the potions the Ancient Sorceress had put together, he would casually greet the two present with a flash of a smile. "Uh, I'm interested!" He pipes to Runicflare with a twitch of his tail. Ah... he was already beginning to have second thoughts.

Her brother. She knew the wolf would not be interested, at all, given his stealth and skill as an assassin. Naturally, he did not like herbs or potions— all that kind of healing stuff. Well, at least, she didn’t think so. After all, he was there. And he didn’t say a word. If he was interested, he would speak up, right? That’s just his personality. At least she thought so. When he sat somewhat close to her, she simply smiled.

And then she turned to the sound of the Dutch-accented scientist. Oh Hylia. Was he the only one interested? He would blow up their territory, that was for sure! He’d be healing a patient, and then the patient would be gone with him. Well, she had to give him a shot. After all, they need an Augur. Not a great one. Besides, she supposed he would have at least some medical knowledge. Steeling her own nerves as she sees him twitch his tail, she takes a deep breath. "Okay... How about this? We’ll go with what the other clans do first— herbs. And then we’ll do potions. So, Augustus. What do you do when there is a patient who has fallen from a tree and broken one of their limbs?" Her tone remains calm and composed, tail flicking behind her.

If he had been Runicflare, he would have been thinking the same thing about him. But he would also be somewhat offended - not all of his experiments ended up in fiery explosions. At least he tried, right? Perhaps just trying wasn't enough for everybody... People nowadays needed proof for just about everything - even existing! - and Augustus was willing to give just that. He was, after all, a scientist. What was a scientist without any proof? It went hand-in-hand, it was his second nature! Now, what was Runicflare to give him for a "test."

Well, it seemed as if they were going over the normal stuff first. Herbs and the like - he could manage that! He knew quite a few herbal remedies if he did say so himself but potions. Oi vey, he was horrible with them. He always adding something extra for a little spunk or did too little and it all just turned out to be a huge flop. He swallowed thickly. He would have to try. He nods his head slightly, ready for his first question. What to do when someone broke a limb?

Oh, that was easy!

"You line up the broken bones and set it. Then you make a makeshift splint with a pair of sturdy sticks and bandages. Though, I suppose you could make a poultice out of comfrey root to ease the patients pain then later give them stinging nettle and comfrey to help mend their bones." He relays this information easily, smiling confidently. The only reason he knew that was because, well, he's broken bones plenty of times before. It wasn't fun, but it helped him gain experience and knowledge that he could use now to help others.
