Echoes of Pern is set in a 10th Pass Pern, a mere eleven Turns after Thread's precipitous and unexpected return. All of Pern is wracked by a deadly virus that affects dragon kin and Pernese alike. The highly contagious disease spread first through the Weyrs and Holds like wildfire. Then, it rapidly decimated Pern's unaffiliated dragon and human populations. In a Pern where Threadfall has returned, dragon-rider pairs are discovering themselves suddenly unable to fight their ancient enemy.

It is to this altered High Reaches Weyr that our story now returns. To a High Reaches filled with loss, suffering, distrust, and disunity. A High Reaches in need of heroes... which means you.
