the noise. always there. just like the thought of the noose that lingered, ever-present, tucked safely and securely in the back of her mind. the persistent noise, a buzzing sound. nothing made by man or beast, it just, was there. the sound of fires burning, like the ones that had set her optics ablaze once she had heard of the incident and made herself known.

the persistent noise, a humming sound, loud, like the sound of a creek tumbling and polishing over rock after rock until it reaches a waterfall and crashes down. the noises are in my head, everywhere i look. it makes it so difficult to live. i feel for the bruise on my face, pain hits and i hiss. a whisper, quieter than everything that is but shouldn't be there.

what an eventful life she lived, watching the sun set on horizons and waterlines and into the ocean.
