Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
The sound of fingers drumming upon the side of a bench radiated out through the alleyway as Frederick sat hunched over his seat. Hazel eyes were interlocked with the ground, unmoving. A sigh left him. Silence. For once. Yet, he ruined it with the sound of his own fingers tip-tip-tapping across the maple wood. 'You love the sound of the crowd.' He continued. 'You cannot handle the silence.' Louder. 'The silence scares you.' A pause. A gulp. Eyes rose from the ground. 'Causing a mess when there is nothing to entertain you is the problem, Frederick.' His fingers grasped at the edge's of the bench, clawing at the wood. 'You are the problem.'
And he was. There was no denying the shame he was burdened with.
"No."
His voice broke through the alleyway. Frederick's eyes shot open wider as his words echoed off the walls. Now he was standing and taking hard breaths, as if a nightmare came upon him. 'You're silly. Of course you're not...' said the voice in his head that was his own. Simple, the truth was a burden that he did not want to believe.
