Thank god for the little bit of Spanish he understood. A quick nod of his head would be the indication for a ‘yes, we’re friends’ from the feline. He was too embarrassed to even attempt at speaking the Spanish he knew in response, but hoped that the little nod would be enough.

“Yeah- friends. We’re not going to harm you. Not bandits.” He gave a small smile, offering a paw to shake. “Valerian.” Since the others were giving short introductions, he would too, just to make it easier for the little guy.

It seemed that, even with her inexperience with Finnloch's library, Nemhain was going to have to brave the unfamiliarity in order to help this situation. Mercer was the only one with even the smallest inkling on what was going on, and even he couldn't communicate much further than a couple of words, which meant that someone needed to step up. Nodding a little to Lemy, Nemhain flew up into the sky, taking over towards the library. It was several long moments before she finally returned with a couple of books clenched carefully in her talons, found after many minutes of frantic – or as frantic as Nemhain got – searching. Landing back down nearby to Rin, Nemhain put forth the spanish to english and back books, her voice coming out in a deep trill as she eyed Spanishkit, "We're your amigos... Lady Rin, everyone, I went to the library and got these books. They're translation books that should allow us to speak back and forth with Sir Spanishkit... granted we can translate everything before someone forgets." Nad they also didn't screw up any of the words while looking in the book.

  [font=trebuchet ms]When Nemhain offered to go get the books, Rin nodded in agreement. It definitely didn't seem like Lemy or Valerian knew much in terms of translation, so it was probably best that Nemhain go get the books. When Spanishkit referred to her as "Ring," Rin felt the corners of her mouth twitch upwards. This whole situation was depressing, but the kid just seemed so happy to meet new people... it was contagious. "Amigos" was the word for friend, she was pretty sure of that much at least, so Rin nodded along to Valerian's response.

  As Nemhain presented her with the books, Rin dipped her head in gratitude, then flipped open the first dictionary and perused its pages. If she could just find the equivalent phrase to "we are," then she could confirm to Spanishkit that they were indeed friends. A lot of the verbs, she could see as she pored over the book, had only a few possible conjugations- that would make things much easier in the long run. Nosotros means we, she noted to herself; that would be useful at this juncture.

  Finally finding the entry for ser, Rin glanced up at Spanishkit. "Sí, somos amigos,*" she answered, with a small nod. Then glancing back down, she flipped the pages again, searching for the equivalent verb to "to go." He ought to come with them. With another nod, she continued, "Ven con nosotros.** Vamos a..." Flipping the pages again, she twitched her ears. "Town" would probably be the simplest way to put it, if she could just find the equivalent noun...

  ...ah, there it was. "Vamos a- el pueblo,***" she finished, looking up and pointing her tail towards the sea town.
