[div style="text-align: justify; width: 50%; font-family: georgia; font-size: 11pt; letter-spacing: -1px; margin-top: -15px;"]Bex had always tried her best to become more mature and responsible, but no matter how hard she tried, she always found a way to mess everything up. When she had woken up to the storm, she thought that she could spend her day helping others out with salvaging their stuff, that she had completely forgotten about any damage that could possibly occur to herself. This was something that she was quick to realize once she returned to her house to grab a few things, only to find that the place had been completely destroyed by the raging waters which had entered inside. The collie hadn't even realized what she had done until she approached her home, her eyes catching the window which was cracked open, curtains lashing roughly in the wind. That's when she felt her stomach drop and heart begin to pound, remembering that she had opened up the window yesterday since it had been a bit too warm inside. Had she really been so irresponsible as to leave it open all night, and then not even realize it as the storm came in?
Quickly, the canine rushed to the opened window, hoisting herself up on the windowsill to peek inside. What she saw was even more devastating than her worrying thoughts, because that was the moment when those thoughts were no longer thoughts. They were a reality. Bex wore a deep expression of sorrow as she glanced inside to see what appeared to be at least two feet of water covering her floor and destroying everything in its path. Furniture, photos, and all sorts of other items that she had owned could be seen floating around. It was brutal for Bex to watch as she stood there, scolding herself for being so stupid. She knew that she was bound to mess up like this eventually, but she didn't think it would turn out this bad. And it only became worse as something suddenly clicked in her brain, as if a light switch had been flicked on.
"Oh god no!" She shouted out of realization, her eyes widening and heart racing even faster than before as she desperately looked around at the flooding waters, head whipping in every direction as she tried to locate an item of great importance. Her box. The last place she had sworn she had put it was under her bed, for safekeeping. Ha, safekeeping. It didn't turn out to be such a safe place after all. Luckily she had taken her camera with her, carrying it in her satchel for even better safekeeping. But for all she knew her box could be completely lost forever, so focusing on the things which she knew that were safe was not helping her calm down, not even in the slightest. Her box was much too valuable for her to lose, and she had only just got it back. She didn't want to lose it again, along with the sentimental value that it contained. She couldn't bear to lose it.
Fortunately, she wouldn't have to deal with losing it. All the sudden, the collie, shivering cold and nearly heartbroken, felt her spirits begin to lift up as she spotted the wooden object out of the corner of her eye. Her box, it was still in one piece, floating along with all of Bex's other possessions. Keeping her eye on it, the drenched collie came to a very quick and rash realization. The only way to save her box was to go in, and that's exactly what Bex intended to do. Before she could even have time to talk herself out of her impulsive actions, the girl jumped through the window and entered the house with a splash. She was already drenched anyways, so what did she have left to lose? At this point her only options were to sink or swim, and she was choosing to swim towards the one thing that had always seemed to cause her more trouble than it was actually worth.
