★ THERE'S A THING CALLED LOVE THAT WE ALL FORGET, AND IT'S A WASTED LOVE, THAT WE ALL REGRET. YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE JUST ONCE, SO DON'T FORGET, FORGET ABOUT A THING CALLED LOVE —
"Be careful" was a phrase that Cass had heard way too much in the course of his short life. He wasn't sure what it was that drove him to do some... rather stupid things, but he found them fun, what else could he say? This time, he had been out in the forest when he had accidentally come across an extremely territorial fox, who had surprise attacked him from the bushes. Because of his size, the german shepherd had easily won over the animal, driving it off the territory, but he hadn't escaped completely unscathed. Lyra had given him a rather long lecture after heis return, but really, he didn't think his injuries were THAT bad. There were a few scratches on his shoulders, legs, and a small scratch on his left cheek- all of which were covered by brightly colored purple, green, and aqua bandaids, but that was about all. He was absolutely fine.
Now, Cass was sitting on the steps outside the observatory, watching the rain currently pouring down from the light clouds above. He was perfectly dry thanks to the roof above him, except for the very tip of his nose, which was just barely sticking out into the open. There was nothing like drinking in the smell of freshly fallen rain. It reminded him of home... his old home. The only thing he was missing was Butch... but that old timer was long gone now. The elderly german shepherd's death had been an untimely one, and it hurt to think of the way he had died. Shaking his head, Cass held back any tears that threatened to spill from his blue eyes. No... it was best not to think about that now. Letting out a sigh, the male refocused his attention on a tiny pink flower growing beside the steps, which was quivering with each drop of rain that hit its petals, any previous thoughts he had now washed away.
