Within the depths of the fields of rye laid a hidden gem. Within in the field laid a flat land. In it's middle an old, deserted barn. Wildlife was prominent here. From the smallest of grasshoppers to the horned cattle, they roamed the grasslands freely. There was even a considerable amount of prey. Along with that, a waterhole was not that far away. For an older canine, he was in paradise. Perseus, seeing an opportunity, had claimed this land for himself not long ago.

Perseus felt at peace. While company was nice, the canine had hurt others and himself before by abandoning them without a warning. The deserted barn provided him a place to get away... to have no attachments.

As no one seemed to be accompanying him, Perseus felt like he could do as he pleased. It was not uncommon for him to go up to the roof of the barn. Today he had done the same. After climbing the stairs with some feeble struggling, the old warrior managed to come onto the roof in no time and settle down. Perseus was curled up on the front of the roof with his head on the warm tile and his front paws dangling off the side. His clouded gaze stared off into the distance. A colorful gradient of pleasant pigments from the sunset filled what was left of his decrepit vision. Though it was blurred, a slight smile rose upon his maw.

Fresh air. A commodity the unsteady hound seldom sought nowadays. Instead, he passed the time sprawled across the floor of Crow Roux's abode, the hearth's warmth subduing the ice that nipped at his soul. Finding time to wander out the building's insulated walls was laborious, for Leroy was quite content with sharing the general's living space. Comfort, food, drink, and good company were all within a limb's reach. Why risk his ass exploring a world that wished nothing but harm against him, when everything he could ever wish for sat within a twenty-foot radius?

On the other hand, the countdown had already begun. Leroy's days were now numbered. With the limited time he had left in the planet's surface, Leroy yearned to absorb as much as the world as possible. There was so much beauty to it all, so much of it he hadn't learned to appreciate up until this point. Dying did that to you. One understanding that their expiration was just around the corner allowed them to attain a greater understanding of life. For the male, this meant that nature could be fathomed in a manner unlike before. An ample amount of awe-inspiring curiosities remained clandestine to the common Tangler's eye - unlike the majority of his brethren, he could point out and accept the artistry behind every felled tree, every concealed flower, and every rock formation. And to acknowledge his environment's grace, he took it upon himself to take occasional strolls throughout the swampland. Even if it meant imperiling himself to the elements.

On this day, Leroy ventured to Tanglewood's outer limits. Once in a blue moon did the proxy find himself in the less swampy area of his group's territory. He liked it out here; the air was crispy, and much less smelly. Had he not been infected with an appalling, debilitating disease, then perhaps he'd settle in the vicinity. The idea of being isolated from civilization wasn't entirely appealing, but at least there was a consistent source of fresh food.

He treks further, and the faint outline of a building greets his amber orbs. Intriguing. Either the barn was merely an abandoned point of interest, or someone was taking up residence within its decrepit barricades. Interest piqued, the mongrel sets the outbuilding as his destination.

Perseus' dangling paws weren't a quick find, though they were noticed just before the mongrel reached the foot of the building. So, this is where the old fart spent his free time? No wonder he was rarely seen among the populace, being holed up out in the wilderness like this. An interesting figure, Perseus was. Shrouded in mystery, he definitely had a few stories to tell. Those people were oft the best when it came to conversations. And as an avid lover of storytelling, Leroy desired to learn more. He cranes his creaky neck upwards, attempting to face the other mutt. It'd be rude to barge into his home without permission, so it was in his interest to kick things off with an introductory sentence.

"So, this's your humble abode?" he croaks, "It's pretty grandiose compared t' mine, I'll tell ya that much."
