Aizawa didn't know much about joy or happiness. It probably sounded depressing or cliche, but it was true. It didn't mean he felt sad all the time, either. It was mostly just a feeling of numbness, or an ache he couldn't quite place. He just felt like he was missing something--like he was broken. He had never seen the need to filter himself, but sometimes, he wondered if it was only because he didn't care about the consequences.
Unlike other people, he often didn't see the fun side of things. A lot of things were just inconveniences to him. So he was understandably irritated when he had found himself stranded on a lake of ice. He had been out and about, despite his distaste towards the cold, and found the frozen body of water. Except it had found him more than he had found it. Snow had gathered on the surface, hiding it from view. He didn't realize he was treading on ice until it was too late.
His paws had naturally slipped out from under him, sending him crashing down. The soft crack that followed was unsettling. He stayed there, laying on his side, unsure what to do now. He was essentially trapped. This body was fairly large, and any movement would probably cause the ice to finally break. It's why he's careful as he shifts up into a sitting position, crackles sounding under him with each adjustment of his weight. Does he even know how to swim as a lion? He's about to find out as the ice shatters and he's plunged down into the freezing water.
It's dark and he can barely see as he flails, his legs kicking wildly as he tries to propel himself back up to the surface. His mane only makes him feel heavier, sweeping about his face and making it that more difficult. He gets breaths in each time he breaks for a split second--then he stops and he can feel himself dropping down further into the water, his body growing tired of struggling
