His eyes opened.
Sigmund had never accepted things as they were. His whole life he had questioned things; behavior, the way things worked, authority. A gasping breath burst from his lungs. He was questioning things even now, even after death. Or at least... what he thought was death. What had happened to him? As he gained consciousness more things felt fuzzier and fuzzier. His heart was beating hard in his chest. All he could manage to remember were faces, but those were blurring by the second. His family... he had family, right? He was almost sure of it, and yet, they were fading.
The mottled canine stood stupidly in his spot. This was certainly not a desert, but he couldn't remember why the setting seemed so significant to him. What was special about bright orange sands? For once, the placid man felt frustration. Sigmund's ears flattened.
Maybe he'd just wait for something to happen, then.
