    CLONY
[ age mover of the oblivions ]

Clony didn't really get fire. They knew that it existed, yes. They knew that fire was hot, destructive. They knew that it had the potential to end lives. Maybe, possibly, it could be colored in many different hues. Didn't matter since normally fire was the color red, and Clony had a deep disgust against such a color. Other than that? What fire did was beyond Clony's comprehension. The reason for its mind centering around the topic of fire for today was simple. An explanation of lasers to a well crafted platoon of sticks had left Clony grasping at straws as to how it was supposed to explain the best thing that ever existed to a bunch of sticks. Streamlined fire, Clony had bluntly dubbed it. What a disgusting way to elaborate on what a laser was.

However! That misconception got the bat thinking. If a laser really was, in short, streamlined fire, then perhaps there was hope that Clony could construct a laser here. Perhaps there was hope for the best thing to ever exist to be here, in Elysium, under the command of Clony. A monopoly? Was that the correct word? Clony's mind was far too busy trying to figure out the correct method of starting a flame than to elaborate on such a thing. Details, it was details that could be answered at a later time. For now, the council of sticks that Clony had used to come up with this idea were now to be the kindling for a laser. A laser! After weeks on end of being without the gentle hum of a laser, Clony would finally have a sense of normality! Such a thought brought thrill to the bat's heart.

"Now to just figure out a way to condense all of this. I'll need a way to carry it but this'll be a good first step," Clony mused after having gotten the stick pile to light. Sure, the pile was a little messy. Sure, there was absolutely nothing keeping the fire contained. Sure, Clony had decided to host this fire in a very dry spot with lots of other flammable materials around. Clony certainly wasn't expecting for the fire to be blazing when it came back with a cup, a measly attempt to contain and concentrate the flames. The bat found their ears twitching, looking at the absurdly sized flames that had spewed from bad fire practice. "Oh. Uh. Get into the cup, please," Clony chattered, setting the cup down and nudging it towards the flames. The fire, not sentient nor bound by any elemental user present, did not comply. "Oh come on! Get into the cup! Become a laser! Become! A! Laser! It's not that hard! Just get in the cup! I said please! Get into the cup! The cup! Not that bush, the cup!" Clony seethed, picking up a nearby stick and tossed it into the flames when the inanimate object refused to listen to the telepathic demands of a feathered bat.

Stupid fire. Lasers were better than fire. Of course it wouldn't work. Lasers were absolutely nothing like this deranged excuse of energy usage. They weren't concentrations of fire. How could Clony have been so silly? Pearly eyes narrowed in irritated manners, ears listening to the crackle of the flames. Frustrated, the bat picked up the cup and spun around in the air, tossing it into the flames. "Stupid," they added in, an icing on the top of the cake that was their current state of irritability. Fire was stupid. It had no right to even be considered close to something as grand as lasers. The bat shuffled on their silver feet, watching the fire. It would go out on its own, right? Clony knew next to nothing about fires other than that they were a terrible, terrible comparison to lasers. They probably went out on their own. Clony was pretty certain they did, and they nodded to themself with a little twitch of their tail.

[font=trebuchet ms]Rin had gotten better at brewing tea, as of late. It didn't taste good enough to justify having it on the ready at all hours of the day, yet, but when she did make it, drinking it was an alright experience. She didn't feel like she was choking it down anymore.

Having settled at the edge of the dock with a cup of tea, Rin leaned down to drink from it-

-and smelled smoke, the sound of crackling growing larger and larger.

All thoughts of tea fled from her head, replaced by overwhelming panic. Scrambling to her feet, she bolted towards the source of the crackling. Too late, she thought she could hear the voices whisper, even as the sounds of burning grew louder and louder. You can't do anything. Gritting her teeth, she shook her head. She couldn't have a flashback here, not when someone might be in danger.

Skidding to a stop, she saw Clony standing there calmly- maybe a little irritable, but not scared- surrounded by fire, all-consuming, all-destroying. Her breathing quickened, her pupils shrinking into slits. She couldn't do anything. There's fire, there's no water, you can't do anything. The air was dry, throttled by ash. She can't control something this size.

She sees it coming a few moments before, but try as she might-

      -she detaches.

Her eyes blank, she approaches Clony and nudges them with one paw away from the fire. Once they are aware of her presence, she then heads back towards the town, gesturing with her tail for them to follow. She will find a bucket, which she can then fill with water. Alternatively, once the two of them are out of danger, it should be okay to reattach- at least, as far as she can tell. Once she's away from the physical fire, then she can start dealing with its existence without going into flashbacks.
