NTRODUCTION TO CLIQUES
Cliques! They're everywhere, and they really can't be stopped. They can be good, and they can be bad. We don't want cliques to get out of hand, but sometimes it can't be helped. Some people just get too comfortable around others and are want to stick to their friends because they don't want to get out of their comfort zone. A clique will inevitably pop up in every group, but we can at least try to keep them in line, yes? That's why [member=211]drachen[/member] and I have created this guide; to help find and understand cliques, and how to keep them in check.
WHAT IS A CLIQUE?
The word clique just gets thrown around without people actually knowing what it means, causing confusion and sometimes even anger if someone is told they're acting cliquey, even if that someone is not acting in a cliquish nature at all. To avoid people using the word out of context, the definition of clique and examples will be provided so others can understand more about cliques and what they actually are.
Clique
klēk,klik
noun
a small group of people, with shared interests or other features in common, who spend time together and do not readily allow others to join them.
EXAMPLES
person a, b, and c are friends
person a, b, and c always like to chat to each other and are plotting something out
when someone enters the chat person a and c greet the new person while still plotting to the side
person b ignores the person on continues on with plotting
when it comes to posting person a and c will post on different threads made by different people
person b only posts in the threads person a and c have. if person a and c don't post in that thread then person b won't
person a and c are open to talking to others aside from each other while person brefuses to greet/interact with anyone aside from person a and c
person b refuses to post on threads that don't have their friends and make it hard to chat with them
person a and c are not in a clique because they interact with others
person b shows a cliquish nature because if it doesn't involve their friends then they don't want to talk to anyone else
let's say person a, b, c, d, e, and f are friends
a, b, c, d, e, and f are plotting/chatting together
a, b, c, d, and e don't welcome the new person entering the chat, only f
a, b, c, d and e only post in each others threads and nobody else's
f is the only friend willing to greet and post in other threads that don't include their friends
a, b, c, d, and e are a clique because they aren't interacting with anyone that isn't apart of their group
f isn't really apart of this clique because they go out of their way to interact with people
