THE TYRANNY OF THE SUN | p, CoD:MW with Sahl
« on: March 26, 2018, 10:46:08 PM »
YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND — Soap had seen it. At first, he thought he was a madman. More than Ghost, even! He and his soldiers were out, training in the vast expanses of Credenhill. He had just barked an order... when, suddenly, the sun disappeared. Of all things, the star that made the sky blue, fed the plants, and shone brilliantly. In one moment, the sky dimmed to an ebony blank and even the flames on his cigar dimmed as it fell out of his mouth. The captain turned, eyes widened as he yelled for his soldiers to get underground. That was simply a few days ago. Now, in the bunker, Soap was dozing off. His icy eyes shut once, twice, before falling asleep.

One of the youngest that had been brought in... was Roach. The dirty blonde, almost ginger Army Ranger was training. He knew, despite being as childish as he was, he needed to keep himself in shape. His forest green eyes narrowed as he threw a knife against a target. It made a satisfying sound. However, he had missed his bullseye. By only a couple inches at most, and he sighed.

When it first happened, Ghost assumed it had been an eclipse. One of them, he couldn't remember which did what, but that wasn't much important now. No, he hadn't been sure why everyone was freaking out, he really wasn't paying attention to the gravity of the situation. With annoyance, he'd followed orders and herded those they could into the bunker. By then, though, he realized what had happened, but he always found it best to just pretend everything was normal. That meant keeping the mask and sunglasses secure on his face despite the seeming uselessness of them underground. The tall Brit leaned against the wall now, watching his younger, American friend take a shot with the throwing knife. Quietly, he pushed away and stepped up beside Roach, on his left and just a step behind (very much within socially unacceptable range) reaching his right hand around the lad with a throwing knife in his grip. He had too many knives too count and half the time could have one within killing range without anyone even noticing until they felt the tip agianst their throat. Luckily, that wasn't his intention with Roach. His left hand rested on Roach's upper arm and there was a smirk beneath his mask, but at this point it was something that could almost be heard in his voice. "Nice try, mate, but not quite hittin' the mark." With a flick of his wrist, he sent the knife flying and imbedding itself right in the center. "Bullseye," he drawled quietly, teasing the younger soldier. He just wanted to show off, but if Roach needed pointers, he would gladly show him. Of course, he would take that and use it to get Roach to do something ridiculous and stupid later on. (Maybe itching powder in Soap's sheets?)

YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND — At first, the American could have cared less about the sun disappearing and the planet being in a deep freeze. Roach was in a different country. He had wanted to see his family one last time. To know they were safe. Heck, he might  have even chosen to go in his family bunker instead of his unit one. But, for all the Sergeant knew... his family was dead. The Task Force was all he had left. That’s when Ghost has went behind him, and then touched him. The young soldier heard the sound of a knife going by. Despite his show-offy-mess and the fact that Ghost had a dinstinct voice, Roach’s self defense mode went into high gear. His eyes narrowed and he turned sharply. And, after all that, he would attempt to roundhouse kick his superior in the gut. — WHERE YOUR LOVE IS STRONG AND BOLDER

Unfortunatelly, Ghost hadn't been prepared for that. Oddly enough, he was so used to everyone else being so used to his phantom-like presence, he forgot he still had the ability to scare his fellow soldiers. He grunted as the boot connected and nearly doubled over, taking only a hard step back before he pushed through. Quickly, he would step closer, hands up as he aimed to shove the American back, getting right up in his personal space to lightly hook his foot and try to pull him off balance. It took him several seconds to be able to speak, but that all added to his flare. If Roach ended up on the floor, he would kneel over him, one hand against his knees so he couldn't kick up. If he didn't, Ghost would still step closer to the shorter man and try to stop anymore hits from him. "Oi, watch it, kitten. Is' just me. I'm tryin' to help you."

YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND — Only after his foot had connected, did the American truly realize who it was. By then, it was too late. His feet had been knocked under him and the English soldier was kneeling by him. Thar stopped the hots. Roach’s fearful face turned somewhat calmer. After all, one didn’t know who to trust. At least, in their profession. For all he knew, Ghost could have attempted to stab him in the back. Roach let out a growl. He was not fond of being pushed and so much more that the  Mancunian did. “Sorry, pal. Thought someone wanted to do me in so I did what I thought I had to.” He says, almost bitterly. — WHERE YOUR LOVE IS STRONG AND BOLDER

Ghost grinned as he lifted his mask just enough for Roach to see his mouth. It was usually the most he exposed around people. Patting his knee, he stood and leaned over, offering Roach a hand to pull him back on his feet. It was fair enough to assume Ghost might be there to stab you in the back, but he'd hardly dispatch someone so quickly when they had all the time in the world now. "Nobody down here's gonna hurt you." Brushing his own shoulder, he would step away when Roach stood. "Ya nearly knocked the breaf' outta me. Strong kick. Now, you gonna stop tryin' to beat up your higher-up and let me give you some pointers? I know you can do betta'." He spread his hands, giving a small shrug as he looked at Roach expectedly, but his expression was lost in the fabric and red shades.

YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND — Jeez! Ghost had to be like this, didn’t he? The American looked at him, watching the words fall out of the Mancunian’s mouth. It was still rare for him to even pull up his mask, even to such a low point. Roach huffed, emerald eyes narrowed, as Ghost told him that he knew he could do better. The lieutenant didn’t know much. But the Ranger just decided he would concede. Especially with that shrug. He hung his head and let out a somewhat dejected sigh. “Okay, ‘higher-up,’ what do you want to teach me?” — WHERE YOUR LOVE IS STRONG AND BOLDER

Ghost placed his fingers under Roach's chin, pushing his head up gently before giving him a light pat on the cheek. "That's Lieutenant Riley to ya, mate." He was only fucking with him because he could without getting in trouble for it. Even though in the bunker, with possibly no society above them, did the rules even matter? ... probably some shit to do with honor if he didn't follow it. "How to 'frow a fuckin' knife, Roach. You want to hit the bullseye don't ya?" He pulled another knife from a random pocket, flipping twice in his hand before in a flash he turned and threw it at the target. Just off the bullseye, damn. Still, it was good for how quick he had done it. "Have you even tried doin' it with one eye closed?"

YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND — Roach rolled his eyes as Ghost gently moved his chin and them patted him on the heel. Sure, the Lieutenant was just messing with him, and even using the American version instead of the British one. Even if they weren’t in a huge society, they certainly were in a society. Roach jumped back at how quick Ghost pulled the knife out and threw up. A couple astounded claps followed that, even if he did miss the mark. “Okay, Lieutenant. Teach me how to be awesome like that!” Roach remarked, obviously in awe. — WHERE YOUR LOVE IS STRONG AND BOLDER

Jesus. Ghost reached up and tugged his mask back down over his mouth, staring at Roach a moment. He was sure the clapping was unnecessary, but he did enjoy it. Deciding it wasn't worth a jab at the younger guy, he shrugged. "Knew you'd ask someday." He rolled his shoulders back, shaking out his arms. "All right, the first step is knowing you'll never be as cool as Riley and accepting that fact immediately." He'd held out one finger indicate his counting of rules. There was another smug smirk plastered beneath his mask as he held up a second finger. "You gotta think fast." With that, he quickly struck at Roach, aiming to catch the American off-guard with a punch to the gut. If he got that hit, he'd attempt after to quickly pull Roach into a headlock.

YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND — Of course Ghost was a narcissistic son of a... nevermind. He’d have to deal with the fact that he would “never be as cool as Riley” and he had to be “accepting of that fact immediately.” He wanted to sigh, but fought off the urge to. Instead, he tried to put on his happiest look, saying, “Okay. I accept that.” He then watched Ghost’s body posture. Something was off, and he knew it. But it was too late, he hadn’t thought fast enough. The punch landed in his gut, knocking the wind out of his briefly. However, he moved back and turned to the side, recovering quick enough to not be put in a headblock. A grin crossed his features. Now it was his turn. Quickly, he would attempt to move his arm, to push his fingers against Ghost’s solar plexus in an aim to make him feel as if he was choking. — WHERE YOUR LOVE IS STRONG AND BOLDER

He expected something in retaliation for his attack, but not that. With a grunt, he stepped back, almost doubling over again. His hand reached quickly, attempting to grab Roach's wrist before he could pull away. He had been about the pull the American closer, but decided it against it and let go if he'd grab hold in the first place. An arm over his stomach, he backed away again and shook his head. "Hm, good... fasta' than I 'fought," he begrudgingly admitted. With a deep breath, he straightened his posture and rolled his shoulders back. "Easy enough. Step three." The joke was nearly spent because he hadn't thought that far ahead. "Well. Just throw the fuckin' knife properly." To be fair, he really wasn't the greatest teacher aside from yelling some instruction and hoping to god they knew how to do it or at least went someone else. "Are you gonna spend more time 'ere or find some'fing more interesting to do elsewhere?" It was the end of the fuckin' world as they knew it, and all anyone seemed to wanna do was mope about it or train all day. Ghost kept himself in shape, it was just routine, but he also didn't waste all his time doing it.

YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND —
Wow! Roach sucked up to Ghost, and he still got his wrist grabbed. He nearly attempted to pull it back, but it was released before he could. And then, seeing him with an arm on his stomach and shaking his head to get reoriented, Roach couldn't help but laugh, green eyes sparkling. Though, when step three was told, he listened for a minute, his face eager, before it turned to disappointment. He did so much for Ghost and that was all the Lieutenant could say! He let out a huff, turning and throwing a knife, this time hitting the bulls eye.  "Like that?" He asked, eyes narrowed. And though Roach liked training, he also made the time pass by playing games. And that's when he remembered, as soon as sun was extinguished, he had gotten Truck, Meat, and Royce, to steal all the puppies at a pet store and all the animals at a shelter. A smirk appeared on his eyes, and he turned his head somewhat. "Oh something more much interesting! Have you ever... considered owning a dog, Riley?"

Ghost smirked as he'd watched Roach land the bullseye and he rolled his eyes, draping his arm over the younger soldier's shoulders and shaking him gently. "Atta boy, Roach. I knew you had it in you." He let go and went to grab the knife out of the target, flipping it around in his hand. He hummed absently in response to Sanderson's apparent claim of having something more interesting, glancing over his shoulder at him. He squinted his eyes after a moment and laughed. "A dog? Well, sure, 'fought about it time to time. Soap would probably kill me if I kept one around the barracks, but that'd make it all the more fun. Eh, what's that got to do with any'fing, though?" He flipped the knife from hand to hand before wedging in back into the target.

YOUR HEART HAS BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LAND —
Roach watched Ghost with eyes that held admiration. That was, of course, until Ghost gently shook him. Watching as he rushed forward and grabbed the knife out of the target, this was like a Senpai relationship. Roach was clamoring for attention. More, more attention from dearest Lieutenant. He smiled as Ghost laughed— something that the soldier usually did. It made the Army Ranger feel better. He chuckled as Ghost brought up the captain. With a twinkle in his eye, he asked, “Well then... if you wanna go overboard, wanna get a huge dog? Me and the guys raided some shelters so there’s plenty to choose from.” Yeah. Roach, Truck, Meat, Royce, and a few others just stole dogs and cats because they knew the poor animals wouldn’t survive the sun going out.
