On a normal day, the number would have been six; but this was not a normal day. No, it was far, far from it. The pack had been split. What had been another day of mere traveling turned quickly to something far different. From one side, a bark; then two more behind them, until it came to their cold realization that they were surrounded. Wings had spread out defensively, lips curled in warning, but the opposing group did not heed it. Tense, long silence, then the attack. Their memory turned to nothing more than a blur after that point, clouded by the feral edge of their mind. All they knew was their pack was down almost half. They tugged on the bond between their members, testing the waters, asking if the three that had been split off were alright, but was met with nothing. There wasn't a doubt in the alpha's mind about them being alive, though; they could feel it on the bond, and none had been severed. They could only hope that would not change. They were still somewhat hazy from the fight. A tear on their shoulder still bled profusely, leaving a trail of black after the group as they moved forward. The rest would know to come here. They would be alright on their own. Tao stopped before the massive gates. They looked it up and down for a moment, silently dreading the fact that after so long on their own, they needed to seek the help of a larger group. It would not be an easy transition. Assimilating would certainly take a very long time, especially for the alpha; Tao was not excited to be around others or keen on the prospect of them trying to weasel themselves into their life. The hybrid let out another low growl before finally lifting a heavy paw and beating down on the gate. They glanced once more behind them, gaze lingering this time. Be on your guard. Re: malleable beings / mass joining - ASTERIA - 11-28-2018 [div style="margin: 0 auto; border-width:0; width: 70%; text-align: justify; line-height: 1.5; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt;"]It was mere misfortune that had driven them to such a sorry state. At the moment of their ambush they had been weary from travel, worn down by the constant moving and the harsh elements. Asteria was sure that they would have emerged victorious if they were confronted head-on and while in good health. The world was rarely that kind though, and it was uncommon to come across an opponent with the same sense of honour that she had. Targeting the weak and unassuming seemed to be commonplace these days, although she couldn't quite understand why. What did the bloodthirsty have to prove by attacking those at a disadvantage? There was no pride in a victory stolen through trickery and underhanded means. Her eyes lingered on Tao's form as they led the pack through the rough terrain. Even her alpha preferred to fight dirty, although she held much more respect for them than anyone else that shared their tactics. After all, Tao rarely sought conflict. On the contrary, it seemed to follow them like flies followed bloody jaws, as evident by what had happened earlier. Her own pelt stung almost as much as her wounded pride, bloody teeth marks in her wings and the burning reminders of claws on her stomach. None of them were particularly deep, but rich dark blood joined the alpha's on the ground below them in a sparse sprinkle of dots. Still, she refused to drag her injured wing. Her head was held to its full height, and all her extra limbs were tucked neatly by her sides. Their attacks could take her feathers and her health, but no one would succeed in taking her dignity, she would not give them the satisfaction. Their journey seemed to be coming to a close though. Even she had to admit that it was better to accept assistance now than carry on like they were. This home would give them an opportunity to regroup, rest and recover. Interacting with strangers was a small price to pay for the pack to be whole and healthy again. Without their epsilons they were at a significant disadvantage, especially when it came to hunting larger animals. The three guards were a large part of many of their tactics, although it was one of said tactics that led them to being split up in the first place. Forked tongue dragged over bloodied lips, and Asteria focused her gaze on the gates she could see peeking up from the horizon. Golden eyes narrowed slightly, spine coiling impossibly tighter and further perfecting her posture. After such a long journey, closing the gap in between the gate and where they stood seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. This was their new home. The ground was muddy and littered with debris, speaking of a disaster that they had narrowly missed, but still the gates stood strong. A testament to their strength, she supposed. She exhaled through her nose and took a poised seat beside the larger Tao, sending them a glance through the corner of her eye. Their sentence was acknowledged with a swift nod, but then she decided it was her turn to speak. "How are you faring, dear?" She would ask somewhat lowly, returning her gaze ahead of her to make sure no one was eavesdropping. After what had happened in the past, she knew that Tao was probably taking this separation less than well. Re: malleable beings / mass joining - aphrodesiac - 11-28-2018
the pack was split. this revelation sent a choleric crack of an angry whip lashing the irritable recesses of her mind, rending her thoughts cloven and spiraling into distress like hoary, well-weathered leaves in the eye of a brilliant storm. but through the mind link, she knows they are not dead. they are okay. they are safe. and that is enough for the omega. the mutt trudges behind tao, weaving a pace akin to glacial as she stops to appraise the wounds of her fellow packmates with the roving gaze of tenderly petal pink irises, radiant with the fresh fresh lacquer of besotted worry. aphrodesiac's heavy, brutish claws sunk into the skin of sun-soaked, placid earth. the foundation that grounded her. kept her steady. the demoness's claws cleaved whisper-thin, dreamy strings of grass, flattening it smugly beneath her heavy, domineering step. the youth's ear was savagely split by brutal, disparaging claws, allowing wicked the wicked ebb of her life blood. it oozed slick like oil, and just as crass, just as rotten. just as foul smelling. the battle had been brief and bloody, but pack was everything to rho like an indomitable bliss she couldn't describe, and the knowledge that something would want to take that from her sent the adolescent into a snakebite frenzy. the violent flashbulb of adrenaline that had exploded within her mind wriggled, wormed within her, bit down and failed to wane. up until the moment that the remaining faced the wall that barred them from safety, the rage was a friend that refused to depart. it clung jealously to the hollow of her bones, in her throat. the likeness of darkness hugging the curvilinear of the moon. the land here was warm and compassionate with a feeling she could not begin to trace upon with words or thoughts, even if the idea of turning to another group for protection had woven tethers of weariness into her frame of thought. the big girl curled her lip, siddling next to her sovereigns. many, many moments after the skirmish and seperation, and her heart still tingled with the frazzled beat of violence, racing warm and snug underneath skin. already, her soul sang for the anticipated arrival of the other half of the pack. if anything, it helped that the alpha were here, though his irritation was palpable and the friction of it all settled across her nerves in waves. she stood close to them, longing to drink in their velvet red comfort. rho's gaze wandered to asteria's gauched wing, studying the tango of silky red and sinewy black, glittering blood tangled in a nest of ebony bristles. honey, was the way she could describe the faint scent that wafted from raw, bleeding cuts that were the trophies of battle. honey, because it was intoxicating and sickly-- for all the wrong reasons. stupid rogues. stupid skirmish. stupid everything. "are you shure you don' wan' me to halp with tha?" a fat, pink tongue pattered wetly against the roof of her mouth as she set to work putting her vocal cords to use; a vital organ that sent a guttural warble that sounded the least bit feminine thundering heartily past her throat. her vivid speech was ruptured pitifully by protruding tusks; an obstacle that was sure to make any speech-related task difficult. a slitted gaze, carmine flower blooming across a sleek iris, drifted from the alpha's wounds to the beta's next, the scent of blood a light teasing to her senses. her proposal to help would be a brutish and uncultured one at best. she had no access to herbs. no knowledge of them, really. perhaps they would resource medical attention, soon, since they were to seek help from this clan, but the omega could bear to see her family in this state no longer. -tags- Re: malleable beings / mass joining - pallid-i - 11-29-2018 The last member, a curious hybrid, slithered along the floor. Small scratches littered his maw and he looked mildly irritated, but the omega remained relatively quiet for the time being. He'd rather not say anything stupid and anger the alpha, so he kept to the back of the group and made sure his tongue was held.

While Buckingham had his fair share in a warbound group, he still couldn't understand why some people attacked, murdered, and captured with no valid reason. It was like those people had nothing else better to do, and they could only get entertainment through the pain of others. It was pathetic really-- he's glad he got himself out of there when he did. The guilt of the people he killed in the past became too heavy for him to bare, and he realized he didn't want to hang around people who were glorified for murders & captures. The Helion made his way through the territory, despite how muddy it is. When Bucky looked at the territory the day they returned to the village, he hated how destroyed the territory looked. It will take time for the territory and the village to return back to what it used to be. The village has to be rebuilt- several homes were lost during the flood, and most of the boardwalk has to be rotting wood by now. The territory has to be cleaned up, and hope that the muddy ground doesn't stay like this forever. He's pretty sure most of the wooden barricades were washed away by the floods, and remaining will be taken down later. As he padded along, multiple unfamiliar scents invaded his nostrils. The former assassin stopped in his tracks, trying differentiate them. The four scents smelled similar, giving Buckingham a feeling whoever the four scents belong to, they've been traveling together for awhile. While the four scents were swirling up in his nose, he managed to catch a whiff of iron in it too. Blood. One of them, or maybe more, have some open wounds that probably need medical attention. Of course, it won't be Bucky who'll look over their wounds- he's the last person they'd want for that. He quickly went on the move again, ears flattening as he traced the four, bloodied, scents. When he arrived to the border, he was slightly surprised at the sight before him. It's not everyday you see a chimera, let alone four! His light blue eyes blinked as he padded forward, his eyes scanning each one of them. Each one of them had wounds, some worse than others, and it made Bucky wonder what the hell happened to them. He glanced over his shoulder, his eyes locking on an npc who happened to be padding by. "Go get Venus," He ordered the npc, with no room to object, the npc giving a nod and running off to fetch the Solbinder. With that, he looked back over at the four, wounded chimeras. "You four appear to be in rough shape," He began to comment with a flick of his tufted ear, "I'm Buckingham Barnes, Helion of Sunhaven. What brings you four to our territory?" [member=23]VENUS[/member] Re: malleable beings / mass joining - REBECCA MACK - 11-30-2018 SUNHAVEN — GOLDENBLOOD — FEMALE — BORDER COLLIE — PLAYED BY KICKSIE They all seemed like a close-knit group so far. Bex seated herself down next to Bucky, offering the helion a quick nod of greeting before glancing forward at the group in front of her. She couldn't help but wonder if they were a family, and something about the very thought of it made her heart sink within her chest. Family. That was one thing she missed that she was certain she'd never get back. "I'm Bex," the collie greeted, smiling reassuringly toward the pack. They seemed like they had been through a lot and could probably use some decent hospitality. Bex hoped that Venus would be here soon to help them with any injuries they had, but in the meantime, all they could do is figure out why they were here. Always a stoic air about them, cold, aloof. They hadn't always been like this, of course; only after the tragedy of their first family did they become like this. Lost their voice to trauma and simply watched as their emotions faded to black. Truth be told, even with their new pack, even with Asteria, they were still recovering. It would take them a long time if they were ever to go back to who they used to be. Their ears twitched slightly at Teri's question. They were sure she could feel it over the bond, but regardless they appreciated her concern. Tao breathed out a deep sigh. Worry flashed in their eyes for a brief moment as they stared ahead, contemplating, calculating their next move. "...Badly," The hybrid croaked to her, voice low and broken from lack of use. Aphro's words reached them next. They glanced down to the wound on their shoulder, and though it hurt a bit, they couldn't find it in themself to accept the help. Asteria could use it more than them; though they sustained no wounds on their wings, Tao could feel the sting of hers. They wrinkled their nose slightly. I'm okay. Tao shuffled their wings and couldn't help the curling of their lip upon sighting someone growing closer to the little group. Buckingham Barnes. What a long, tiring, useless name. 'Helion' seemed to be a word that carried importance, and yet they got nothing of that from the feline and his prosthetic arm. Tao raised a brow as they looked him over with their judging eyes, gaze moving next to Bex as she followed and introduced herself. Two names they would not be using any time soon. Oh, how they hated seeking the help of groups that they would hold no loyalty to. Idle chat on a border when they could have easily just waltzed in and acted like they lived there already. As they had no intentions of offering their voice to the two, the hybrid instead turned their gaze to Asteria as they always seemed to do. Re: malleable beings / mass joining - guts - 12-01-2018 Ymir wasn't known for her kindness or charity. She wasn't cruel, however. She just preferred to do things for herself, the way others would feel often not crossing her mind. But she was never rude on purpose (at least not most of the time).
As she comes up to stand next to Bex, she studied the four carefully, unsure how to feel. What the fuck were these things? She had never seen anything like them before, and she had convinced herself nothing phased her anymore, not in this weird-ass universe. Seemed like she was wrong. "Are we gonna let them stick around?" she asks, turning a somewhat sharp stare on Bucky. "We have enough mouths to feed as it is. No offense, of course." she turns back to face them at the last part, though she didn't show an inch of apology on her face. "character's speech." |
