from shadows ― weekly task, new pet, o - Belladonna - 04-17-2018

[align=center][div style="width: 450px;; text-align: justify"][size=8pt]Belladonna knew for a fact that the area the Tanglewood lived in was weird. The town, for the most part, was safe, but there was something up with the swamp - something dangerous. Belladonna usually had to venture outside the territory to find herbs, but trudging through the swamp on her way back was the worst.

As her feet sunk into the sludge with a disgusting thonk noise, Belladonna was aware of something behind her, in the trees. It stared with gleaming eyes that she could barely spot, and before she could even spin around to face her attacker, an owl swiftly dove towards belladonna, landing ungracefully into her chest. It seemed to be mutated - the owl was pitch black, and Belladonna managed to scramble out of the sludge just in time to catch the owl in her chest.

It peered at her curiously - and Belladonna realized the animal wasn't going to harm her. It clicked it's beak at her and she just stared back, still shocked - what was with this guy? was he following her? "What are you doing, little guy?" she asked, but the owl hopped closer to Bella's face, gently nudging her. Did it want food? she was so lost.

"Speech."

initially upon glimpsing this scene, Fenris had momentarily thought the owl in the dark light of the swamp was a crow or a Raven and a slight sense of elation for possibly a sign of his younger sister and her familiars had burned bright - but no, upon further inspection now that he ambled closer, it was an owl - a strange one - that had accosted belladonna.

Squashing his momentary disappointment, War approached closer inclining his head "seems you might've found a new friend" he rumbled curious of the strange mutated owl - but then given the environment he wasn't surprised that the owl was strange.

Re: from shadows ― weekly task, new pet, o - Morgan - 04-20-2018

Morgan growled at the flying animal, tracking it by sight. By coincidence the samoyed had also been prowling around the swamps. It had snuck up close enough to Belladonna to detect the owl's presence before it dove. The dog sprang into action, hurling a small set of ice spikes at the bird as it crashed down.

The target was moving too fast; Morgan sighed and retreated as the spikes missed their mark. Once another of the canine's allies appeared, it lied in wait to watch the scene unfold. It was certain that Belladonna was a goner.

Re: from shadows ― weekly task, new pet, o - CAIROS - 04-20-2018

there was something regal about owls. he hadn't spotted them often back in egypt, and honestly had belladonna not been making friends with one their existence would've remained out of his mind. he was finding that a lot with things now that he had returned to the earth, or, whatever version of it this was. there were simple things like mud, or rain, or certain creatures that he'd once been familiar of, he'd just forgotten that they'd existed. it was as though each time he remembered something he was thrown back into the past for just a brief moment and the nostalgia would wash over him like a wave. in some instances, these memories would drag him back to painful memories, perhaps of old friends or his family, or husani.

the owl, fortunately enough, just reminded him of a peaceful night where he'd had a rare sighting of a bird that didn't often show its head around the middle of the desert. pale paws pulled him forwards, a solemn look painted across the jaguars face. to face the world like this again, it was strange, especially after his joining. "i've never seen one like that before," cairos spoke softly, hazel eyes glancing at the feathered creature with quiet intrigue. it was pretty, its feathers the same ebony hue as... amun. there was a prick in his chest, although he remained quiet, this was his issue, not these guys'. his ever tragic love story was his alone, he just wished everything would stop reminding him of the heartbreak he was suffering through.

She couldn't refrain a smile from appearing on her beautiful obsidian scaled features as she spoke with a soft giggle [b]"Quite an interesting avian, Bella." She almost wanted to tease the other of when she'd let Happy get [i]that close like the owl was but she refrained from doing so respecting her friend and not wanting to embarrass her in front of all these people. Her ears would angle forward as she lifted one of her talons towards her face and briefly scratched under her chin asking with an amused rumble "Does he have a name?" Or was it a she? She wasn't sure of how to identify a bird without having a closer look, she snorted a bit a plume of smoke escaping her nostrils waiting patiently for a response.
