DARE TO BEWARE • open, thunderstorm - CORRUPTTIMELINES - 06-03-2022
Sitting upon his place outside the tavern, the Luminary felt his gaze traverse across the sky absentmindedly. A world of peace had finally struck him, causing an uninhibited grin to sprawl across his features. A soft flick of his ear signaled his pleasure as the wind consumed him, drifting across his pelt with ease. Suddenly, everything was so peaceful. Everything was correct, and he couldn’t help but feel relieved. Being leader came with many challenges, including not knowing when to back down and realize everything was where it was supposed to be.
That was his greatest endeavor.
His peace was short lived, however, as a large gust of wind whirled into the area, knocking him onto his side. For a moment, he lay there, absolutely stunned. Where in creation had that come from? Half expecting to have been an enemy, he felt his claws stretch out of their sheaths, ready to attack if need be. Little did he know, there was no need for such a gesture.
His gaze drifted up towards the sky, which looked furious in all its glory. Angry gray clouds danced and intermingled with more content hues, causing a mixture he saw all too infrequently. To the left, a vibrant flash of light emitted into the air. He squinted at the brightness of it, trying to shield himself from it almost. Then, to the left, a roar of unforgiving thunder raged throughout the air.
And just like that, a torrential downpour began.
“You’ve got to be shitting me,” he muttered, glancing to his squirrel companion with frustration. The squirrel simply looked at him, and then burrowed beneath his body, shielding themselves from the storm and leaving Cory incapable of moving out of the rain, which soaked his pelt through and through.
How unpleasant.

lanyu had been playing when it happened. the storm rolled in and the rain pored down on her. she let out a surprised yelp and ran towards camp. paws thundering upon the earth until she almost ran into cory.
stopping, she would let her wide amber eyes look the other over. "are you crazy? this rain is horrible. you should be inside too! or under a palm frond." she offered with ears folding back as she looked around for somewhere to hide from the water.

A familiar voice rang through the land, and the domestic feline turned to glance at them. His gaze softened as he noticed Lanyu, who was clearly in a hurry to get away from the rushing downpour. Within moments, another clash of thunder rang throughout the air, and lightning stuck some ways away. He grimaced, glancing down to the squirrel hiding beneath him. Then, he looked back to the pup.
“I’m trying to keep him from getting wet, come with me,” the domestic cat told the pup, motioning a paw as he attempted to shield them to the best of his ability from the rain.

Not again… the fox had a strong distaste for thunder, though he wasn’t entirely sure why. The presence of lightning in the sky always put him on edge, not to mention the downpour that was to follow. He hated getting wet. It would probably take hours to dry off and while his wings were soaked he wouldn’t be able to fly.
The fox anxiously looked around, skitting towards the camp to find some shelter when he passed others. He barely gave them a glance, though noticed them from the corner of his eye. That was distracting enough to make him lose balance, and on some wet moss, he'd slip forward landing into a puddle of mud. Just great…. Now his coat would not only be wet but also filthy. Never mind drying off, now he'd have to get the muck out of his fur too. Another roar of thunder startled him and he’d jolt back to his paws as quickly as he could, eyes alert and focused in time to see the lightning strike up ahead.

While everyone else seemed to strongly dislike the torrent that was descending on the lands, Ares was quite pleased. For the first time in a while, the woman seemed peaceful as she strode in the town. The large raptor crooned gently as she spotted Cory, Lanyu, and Eon, all three seeming to struggle in the rain. Tilting her head, she looked at Eon. He had wings. If anyone was capable of giving themselves or others shelter, it was him and Ares.
Changing her directory to walk up to Cory, and without a word to anyone, she extended her wing above him, trying to block out the rain. Walking around Cory, she stopped and looked to Eon. "Quit gawking at the sky and get under my wing." She called out. Something in her mind lurked, trying to discern her reasoning to shield these beings with her wings.
