Powers weren't something out of the ordinary, especially for Vayne. She had known about powers for a long time, practically ever since she opened her eyes. Aphra often went back to her main body after feeding her kits and as such, Vayne knew that Aphra had the ability to possess other animals. As she was allowed to venture The Typhoon though, she soon learned of other abilities that her Clanmates had; Roan with his electrical elementals, Keona with her water elementals, some crewmates had shapeshifting as opposed to possession. Vayne knew that she didn't have any sort of powers, or at least she didn't think she did. She wasn't really aware that powers usually came up at random intervals, usually after some sort of event but that in of itself wasn't really important to gaining powers. She didn't know that powers were unlocked, in a way; if you asked the Cipher girl if she thought she was born with any powers, she definitely would have said no. Ever since she had woke up this morning, Vayne had a pounding headache. She didn't know why she had one; she had eaten the day prior as she always does and she wasn't dehydrated, nor stressed. The Beta forced herself to get out of bed though, just to start her day, and hoped that her headache would go away eventually. Vayne went towards the beach as she almost always did every morning, though she was uncharactaristically just... sitting down. She wasn't searching for any shells, or playing with Silv. Gods damnit. Vayne cursed mentally, a groan escaping her as she laid down, pressing a paw against her head as if that would help the matter. She heard some NPCs passing by, mostly by their words as they spoke to each other, but she couldn't focus on what they were saying. Is she okay? A voice rang in her head, causing Vayne to prick her ears and look around in shock. Damn, looks like something's got Vayne upset. I hope she's alright. Another voice. Vayne didn't realize it just yet, but the voices were coming from the NPCs that were passing her. Though of course they were just thoughts of the NPCs as they continued whatever conversation they were having out loud with one another; she just heard the thoughts that went through their heads as they went by her. She was completely unaware that she had just discovered her ability to speak telepathically, to read minds. There would be other things she could do with this specific power, of course, but that required her to actually realize she had obtained the power.[glow=COLOR,1,400] ━ ✧*:・゚[/glow] Re: MY TONGUE IS A WEAPON // power discovery - LUMIA CIPHER. - 03-22-2021
Much like her niece, Lumia had never really considered herself to have any powers. As far as she knew, she didn't have any sort of shapeshifting, or possession. Additionally, she had never shown any signs of having any kind of elementals. Still, she actually didn't mind that all that much. It meant that she didn't have to rely on powers, and it also meant that she valued her own life more. While some may not have thought twice about throwing themselves recklessly into a battle, since they knew they could just possess a new body, Mia could never view things in the same way. She didn't expect herself to ever just appear in a new body on the spot, and she fought more cautiously as a result. Even when she was only training for her future, she fought more defensively, than offensively. Logically, she knew that a dummy couldn't strike back at her, but she still leapt away from them all the same, just to make sure she kept the same instincts for a real fight. Even with this in mind, it wouldn't surprise her to know that Vayne had at least one power. After all, Caesar had a multitude of powers, and so did Aphra, so it seemed natural that Vayne would have some as well. Unfortunately, it seemed as though her power wasn't quite as obvious as something like elementals, or shapeshifting. Instead, it seemed she'd need a little push to figure out what was going on. Lumia could provide the push that the other needed, even if she didn't know that she was doing so. Lumia had gotten up rather early that morning, heading out to the tavern for breakfast with some of the other early risers. When she had come across Vayne, she had been heading back towards her room, hoping to get a couple more hours of sleep before properly facing the day. She ended up pausing, though, when she spotted Vayne, the other Cipher not looking as upbeat and well as she usually did. A frown of worry flicked across her muzzle, and she thought silently to herself, Vayne... what's wrong with her? Usually she seems pretty upbeat in the mornings, even this early. Wanting to make sure the other was alright, Mia made her way over, one paw reaching out to poke lightly at Vayne's shoulder. As she did so, she questioned curiously, "Vayne...? Are you okay? You seem like something's wrong... do you need me to go and get Roan, or Goldie?" She added the last question afterwards, worry seeping into her tone. Hopefully Vayne wasn't getting sick. — Reggan Re: MY TONGUE IS A WEAPON // power discovery - daniel - 03-26-2021 Powers, a funny concept that was promptly added to the list of things Danny never would have crossed paths with had he not set foot in the Typhoon's territory, or at the very least it would have been a low chance. He hadn't seen anyone figure out they had any abilities on their own, so he had been under the impression that maybe you were just born with them and figured it out like you would learn anything else someone had a proficiency for. Long story short, he would have expected Vayne to learn about her new found ability earlier on in life than she clearly did. As if that wasn't all confusing enough for the kid, he had no clue how to identify what the hell was going on, and couldn't do much to help to locate someone who did. What a world.
Noticing Vayne was suspiciously quiet and uncharacteristically still, anxiety already began eating away at his nerves that something was terribly wrong. His quickened pace both threatened to shatter his sternum and made him slightly queasy from the sudden jump in speed, a general sick feeling to describe it vaguely. It really was annoying and so inconvenient, his own vital organs turning to little hellions when they smelled fear, especially after he had just gotten breakfast for the day. The one added benefit, though he didn't know it yet, was anxious reactions were so far all instinctual, all gut, head empty. The normally upbeat Cipher girl stumbling into his thoughts against her will would have incriminated him. "You look more like...like me." Danny admitted, sounding worried. Was she sick? In pain? Neither of which were ideal or really did much to settle his anxiety. He glanced at Lumia for a moment, then back to silently agree with the girl about getting one of the two medics. Brown eyes squinted as he rubbed his chest with a paw from a sudden jab of pain. Not actually his heart that time thank god, but tensed muscles were suboptimal for inhalation. "She isn't dying, stop being stupid." [glow=black,2,300]— ❤ —[/glow]

Lumia and Danny were the ones to actually stop by and see what was going on, though Vayne appreciated them doing so. She expected it, really, considering how close she was to the two of them. Vayne looked up at Lumia as her aunt prodded her with a paw, trying to force a small smile despite the pounding headache she felt. "I... I've just got a headache. I think... it should go away eventually. Maybe-" She mewed in response, before Danny's thoughts about her maybe dying popped into her head. Vayne looked at him in shock, as if he had said the words out loud. "I-I'm not dying, I swear it's just a headache." She stammered, still not completely connecting the dots yet, but slowly getting there. She did note that Danny didn't really say his thoughts out loud, but she thought maybe he muttered them under his breath and she just didn't catch it. She hadn't really been looking at him in that specific moment, after all.[glow=COLOR,1,400] ━ ✧*:・゚[/glow] Re: MY TONGUE IS A WEAPON // power discovery - Keona. - 03-26-2021 [table][tr][td]

Strong willed and private, the tiny dealer's mind was a closed off wall. A fortress. It would be a conscious effort to let someone in. To listen. Or speak. An unintentional reprieve for Vayne. [/td][/tr][/table]The petite wildcat's ears twitched. Pale hues idly shifting towards the voices. The youth gathered. Identified the concern with gentle curiosity. Brows creased in thought as she listened. Hadn't caught Danny saying anything about dying... Interesting. Perhaps... "Vayne?" Soft. Keona didn't want to overwhelm the poor girl. "If it's a headache, we could always talk to Roan," gentle suggestion. Even though the fae felt... Otherwise. Simply wanted to put it out there. "But perhaps you could try something for me?" Tentative. Certainly didn't want to push. But it was good to know. To understand one's abilities. Vayne needed to know. "Let's make it like a game." They were all young after all. Might as well engage them. Maybe it'd relax them a little too. Offer some ease. "I want everyone to be very quiet. And think of a word. Any word." Maybe it'd seem silly but... Well. Silly worked. "And Vayne, I want you to tell me everyone's words. Don't overthink it or try to guess. Just wait and listen." © MADI Re: MY TONGUE IS A WEAPON // power discovery - VAYNE CIPHER-VANTAS. - 03-27-2021 [glow=white,1,400]LIKE WE FORGET WHO WE CAN TRUST ! — 。+゚.[/glow]
A game...? That was... strange to bring up at this very moment. Maybe it'll help distract me. At least until she went to go see Roan or Goldie at least, right? Vayne blinked down at Keona for a moment before giving the Dealer a nod. "Alright, let's do that." She agreed. Confusion. It washed over Lumia in a wave as her niece looked up, muttering something in Danny's direction about dying. The young feline couldn't recall hearing the other say anything about dying... they were fairly close, sitting next to each other, so she surely would've heard at least a mutter. That was enough to clue her in that something was wrong, the golden girl's head tilting to one side as she questioned, "Not dying...? But Danny didn't say anything about you dying. I mean, I'm sure it's just a headache. No need to overreact!" That did fill her with even more worry, though. Was Vayne hearing things that weren't actually there? That was hardly a good sign. As she glanced in the direction of the temple, her thoughts were once again present and clear. Maybe I should go get Roan and Goldie now. She could've gotten some sort of concussion or something, if she's hearing things... She was stopped from rushing off, however, by the arrival of Keona. The girl paused at the dealer's approach, blinking at the other before she felt another wave of confusion rush over her. Why did Keona want to play a game at a moment like this? Couldn't she see that something was wrong with Vayne? Though... Mia didn't want to protest too much, considering the other was a dealer, and older than her. Surely the tiny feline knew what she was doing. So, after letting out a soft sigh, the wheat colored feline found herself muttering, "Well... okay, I guess. But right after this I'm gonna go and get Roan!" Her tone was firm as she made her exclamation, but she also then allowed herself to relax. She sunk her claws lightly in the sand, eyes falling closed as she tried to think of a word to focus on, wanting it to be something simple, but unique. Eventually, she settled on something, short tail twitching behind her as she thought solely of one word. Dandelion... dandelion... dandelion... She knew it was a silly word to focus on, but this entire thing seemed silly to the young Cipher. WATER POURING DOWN FROM THE CEILING
