YOU ARE MY BEST ''I'LL NEVER KNOW''
''Mom, where are we going?'' A very small raspy voice called out, small ears perked up as if expecting an answer that did not come. She was confused and more so she couldn't see. But she knew that her mother was carrying her somewhere but she didn't seem to have brought her siblings along. At least she couldn't hear them walking nor had they said anything to indicate their presences. But she was tired and she wanted to lay down and sleep for a little while. Being carried was fine but it was also tiring with the constant movement and motions of her mother's body. After a while when there was still no talking or her being put down so she could be answered she spoke up again, coughing for a moment before her wheezing voice found a pathway. ''Mom....I'm tired. I wanna take a nap, please.'' Again her words were met with silence and she frowned a bit and for a time that was all she got. The sound of walking paws across various terrain before suddenly they stopped. She tilted her head up and her body was slowly lowered to the ground. It took her a moment to realize there was sand underneath her paws.

She was confused to say the least as she had never thought about where they were going. Her tiny maw opened to ask about where they were when she heard retreating pawsteps. Someone was walking away from them. Wait...was her mom leaving and going somewhere without her? ''Mom wait! I can't s-,'' Her calling calling voice broke off into a loud fit of coughing that rattled her small frame. She lowered her head against the ground, a soft whimper leaving her before she struggled to lift herself up once more. But by then she couldn't hear the pawsteps anymore. All she heard was the whisper of hot wind against her face. Her eyes had been glued shut by mucus from her sickness, nose dripping and she sniffled a bit before taking a tentative step forward. The small kitten got a sense that her mother had left her on purpose...that she wasn't coming back. But there was a small hope that she would come back. So she waited there. She waited for a long time, till the sun was high overhead and the heat was making her gently pant against the dry air.

Maybe she was wrong to think that she was coming back. After all she was..a burden right? Her mom had said that once before. She wasn't supposed to have heard her but she did. She was always sick, always frail, always suffering.... Her ears pulled back as she lifted a paw to press it against her muzzle to stop the coughing that was trying to come, instead sneezing hard enough to pop her eardrums. Shivering she didn't feel like moving anymore, so she laid down in the sand.

Mother and Father had been long forgotten by Kold, Gael being the only father figure now. The pain of being abandoned was long distant, but that didn't mean she felt no pity to strangers who would show up without their parents, such as Saintkit. So seeing Tinykit, this small thing in the sands almost like a dot of pepper, forced this giant gal to move.

"Child.. Child, get up." Urgency etched into her voice as she gently nudged the kitten. "You'll die of the heat if you don't move."

GAEL Ó BROIN
Many years lay between the vulpine's last memories of his parents -- both had passed away long ago.  Their family was a complicated one, but a family regardless and abandoning family simply did not sit with the Ardent.  If one did not intend to care for one's own children, in sickness or health, they did not deserve to be called a mother or father.

Gael had lost half his family; hell-bent on protecting what he had left, only to find himself with more.  A strange circumstance, but seemingly inevitable -- both by his own doing and his daughter's.  Intentional or not, the vulpine would do his best to care for those who found themselves under his protection.

While it was strange to find another lonesome kit on Pitt lands, Gael did not waste time to question or search.  The tiny child did not look well enough to sacrifice the time -- she needed medical attention.  "We need to bring her to the White Temple."

She was hearing something, brushing against the sands. Something walking towards her maybe before she felt the presence. The voice speaking to her sounded urgent but she was scared. She didn't know who this was and the sudden nudge made her flinch back. Her eyes that were glued shut with mucus remained firmly shut and she shakily lifted her head up, trying to smell but her nose was plugged as well. If she tried hard enough maybe she could get a whiff but she was too tired to try it. Instead she stayed where she was upon the sands unsure if she was going to be potentially eaten. She didn't want to be eaten. "W-who are you?" She huffed out softly as she pushed a small paw against the sand in an attempt to get up. Maybe to try and scramble away, to make a break for it. But she never even got that far as someone else came forth.

Her head shook back and forth, small fur fluffed up in fear. Not being able to see anything was scary. She didn't understand what was going on or what these animals were. The other had said something funny and she pulled her ears forward as she tiredly panted against the harsh head, black fur trying to defend her. "What's a...temple?" Suddenly hacking overtook her frame and a pained sound left her throat.

The wolf-rottie looked to Gael for a moment, nodding quietly before Tinykit spoke and hacked. She bent her head down, tongue rasping gently over the child's head. "A place you can be safe - will you let me carry you?" Kold felt motherly, a strange warm feeling she had never felt before. "Aine will help you and get you back to health."
