Hymn of Ruin
LUCIFER GRIMM — SNOWBOUND — MALE — VERY DIFFICULT
There were many things Lucifer was capable of - the ability to drown a city entire, to sow destruction on scales hitherto unheard of, to weave shadows and sunder light through the gift of his long dead brother - and to rend matter as was the birthright of those of the line of his father however much he cursed that creature and loathed his legacy.

he was an omen to many, the villain in all the stories of legends no matter how he tried - but what legends would say and what people who knew him thought were two vastly different things but those close enough to know him that were still among the living could be counted on one paw.

For all that he was born and shaped into a creature of destruction, he'd since become so much more than the paltry sum of his past - even if he denied and didn't see it himself - for all that could say would say one truth, Lucifer grimm would do anything for family and this was what divorced him from the nigh on terror of all.

he wasn't his father's creature,

never again.

a soft sigh rumbled from between his teeth, mismatched eyes of silver and red closing briefly as they focused on the hairline fissures of red cracks - scars - that slowly wormed down his leg from the gaping red wound that ran ragged from his chest and thinned up his neck before blossoming like a raw red skull along the left side of his face - it was old, it was permanent and it would forever mar him no matter the form he took, but it did not define him.

he hummed at the thought, flexing his deadly obsidian claws around nothing as he sat outside in the snow - he'd yet to go exploring for somewhere that could house him but it hardly bothered him, he'd slept in far colder and far more hostile environments - the void had never been a kind place - and these days the touch of outside cold hardly seemed to grasp him, the marring scar across his form was frigid to the touch despite its deceiving and foreboding colour, like an icy brand that curled cold claws into his frame.

Lucifer stilled his claws from where one had absently rose to touch the red marks, claws curling away in revulsion - he had idled with the thought of concealing it somehow, this mark of just who his sire was but he had never been one to run from himself or the truth nor to hide from others.

he sighed idly, forcing himself away from contemplation as he heard what must be approaching footsteps no doubt.

//TLBig GrinR just luci bein introspective about himself, he's just sitting out in the snow lost in thought. (an this got longer than I thought it would aha)

Re: NO ONE MADE ME - - OPEN - - I MADE ME - ATBASH CIPHER. - 05-15-2018

ATBASH CIPHER
light the night up,
you're my dark star
Unlike Lucifer, Atbash didn't really have a legacy to live up to. Her parents were just peasants in the society they lived in, being born and raised in the bottom Tier. Life had been happy then, simple. Then again, her and her siblings were only kids, of course the stress of being the lowest-ranking person in a society hadn't caught up to them. But even after they grew up a little, the stress never really came to them until Caesar decided he wanted to be King, and the only way of doing that was getting rid of 'threats'.

Atbash probably wouldn't understand Lucifer's feelings of not wanting to be his father's creature again, since she had no legacy to live to whatsoever. She admired and honored Vigenere for being selected to become part of the King's Guard, but that wasn't exactly a legacy to be expected to live up to. Hell, she dreamed of being a Shaman for a while, but things weren't that easy back home.

The footsteps Lucifer heard were Atbash, trying to approach him as silently as she could. Not to scare him, but to respect him; he seemed to be deep in thought and she didn't want to disturb that. "Lucifer?" She gently spoke, watching him move, seemingly sensing her presence. Whoops. She really hadn't meant to do that. "Is everything okay? Um... Being in the snow for too long might not be good for your health." Atbash knew nothing about dragons, but most reptiles were cold-blooded, right? Meaning their body temperature went along with the weather, so the snow surely was bothering Lucifer?

Re: NO ONE MADE ME - - OPEN - - I MADE ME - jacob w.c. - 05-17-2018

WHAT A PRIVILEGE IT IS TO LOVE — Jacob had grown up among criminals. He had been a criminal himself, conning people out of money and stealing what they wouldn't give him. He wasn't proud of it but it was all he'd known before his Ma had showed him new, honest ways to work. Jacob hadn't ever liked the family business, it always left a sick feeling in his stomach. Something about it never went right but when he'd started learning from his Ma, that something was given a name. It was immoral and dishonest and, even if the people he stole from weren't the best, that didn't mean he should've taken what wasn't his. Jacob had continued with that lifestyle, though, up until his arrival in Snowbound. There wasn't a reason to steal or cheat for anyone anymore. Vito didn't expect him to do it, Jersey didn't expect him to do it, and obviously his Pa didn't considering the stallion's fate. He'd been his own person and he'd been so excited to be a doctor. Jacob had never really wanted any power, he just wanted to help people. Maybe it was because he felt like he had wrongs to right or maybe it was out of the goodness of his heart or maybe it was a fear of falling into the habits of his Babbo and Pa.

Then he'd become chief. Leigh had asked him to do it but he certainly hadn't wanted to. He agreed that Killua was too young and reckless to be in control of an entire clan but Jacob had been incredibly hesitant to accept the offer. There was a part of him that hoped maybe the serval would be able to step up to the task, that'd it'd all be alright in the end. Eventually, though, he gave into the unicorn's wishes and stepped up himself. He was still nervous of turning out like his Babbo or Pa. They both had good qualities and he respected them greatly but they weren't good men. He wanted to be more than good at his job or at a business, he wanted to be good. He knew he couldn't be that way all the time but he tried to get better physically, mentally, and morally. He still didn't like his job but he'd at least grown used to it. He was still afraid that one day he'd overstep the boundaries he'd set for himself but he'd realized he needed to be more assertive than ever before. When he was a doctor, his only concern was making sure everyone's mental and physical health was as well as it could be but now he had to not just look at individuals, but the clan as a whole. Sometimes he wondered what his Babbo thought of it all. Jacob finally had some kind of power but it wasn't the way Vito had planned and it wasn't in the same way. Jacob didn't want anything to do with their family business but at the same time he still had the childish desire to make his Babbo proud. He never wanted to hurt him, he just wanted to follow his own path. Then there was there was the situation with Pincher and Jacob wasn't sure of how to even approach that. Maybe he wouldn't. What Vito didn't know wouldn't hurt him but Jacob knew things wouldn't stay that way. He wasn't exactly sure how but the man always seemed to figure everything out eventually. It was only a matter of time.

Jacob was pulled from his thoughts when he heard Atbash's voice addressing Lucifer. At the mention of the dragon, he felt his heart twist in guilt. He still hadn't been able to find a place for the large creature to stay. He was thinking about trying to look around the tunnels again or maybe try to expand an existing cavern, though he certainly didn't have the powers to do something like that. Maybe someone else would, though. He didn't think he knew anyone that could control rocks and things but he was sure he could figure something out. "Hello, ya' two, the husky greeted simply. He didn't bother asking any questions, seeing as Atbash had already done so. Then he remembered Lucifer's sleeping arrangements and decided to speak again, "'M sorry we still 'aven't been able ta' find a place for ya'. Things 'ave been real chaotic lately but 've been lookin'. I was lookin' at the openin' tunnel though, n' I ain't even sure if you'll be able ta' get through there. I would say we can try it but I don' want ya' gettin' stuck or somethin'. I feel real bad, ya' shouldn' have ta' be stayin' out in the cold like this." —A GREAT HONOR TO HOLD YOU UP

[shadow=darkblue,right]KILLUA[/shadow]
.
Expectations was something that everyone was capable of having. He himself had expectations for those that were around him, although they weren't exactly high standards in that regard as he knew high expectations would just lead him to be disappointed when it came to the clans. Killua himself had dealt with expectations and had realized at a very young age because as soon as he was born he had been declared the heir to a family. When it came to the clans, it was rare that they had a hierarchy where someone would be born from those that ruled the group, and then their offspring would rule after them. That system simply didn't work when it came to the likes of a clan. But when it came to the likes of an assassin family? It was probably the best method that they could have chosen in the end. Killua had come from a family that was assassins, and when he was around three months old they began his training. Training someone so young when it came to the morals of the clans seemed to be completely taboo, but Killua found that it had given him a head start when it came to the strategies he could come up with and how much more experience he had when it came into regards of those that were around his age in the clans. Barely any of them knew how to fight and still had to have mentors show them the ropes for the most basic activities that Killua had already perfected up to this point. Either way, both his father and his mother had high expectations for him, seeing how fast he was capable of grasping certain subjects that were pushed in his way. He was a quick learner, but not only that he was incredibly efficient when it came the learning material that he was actually given. The wildcat didn't have to worry about falling behind, especially with the training schedule that he had been given. Although, Killua probably consider the likes to really be training. At three months old, they began his torture training, which had been the most painful month of his life as his wounds didn't take all that long for him to heal thanks to his young age. The older a creature got, the harder it was for bones to heal themselves if they were broken, or even small wounds could be almost life-threatening for older creatures. The wildcat was able to keep up with his training thanks to this quick healing process in creatures that were as young as that. He was only able to sustain so much damage thanks to how much larger his body was compared to that of a domestic cat. At three months old, he was already the size of a mid-age apprentice that lived in the clans. Not something that could be taking all that lightly, and it was during this time that Killua had also managed to acquire the claws that he had to this day.

The claws he did have now though weren't the claws that he was given to by his family, and instead, the claws he had now were newer versions of the ones that he had previously. The original claws he had were in the clan territory that he had left, as it was there that his brother attacked him, ripping out his claws from his paws and leaving the weapons behind to be weathered away by the environment. Being the middle child, one would thank that Killua would never be the heir to an elite family. He would have hoped that would be the case as he would be all for having his oldest brother be the heir to the family so that he wasn't forced to be it instead. The ivory-hued wildcat just wanted to live a normal life, and the Zoldyck's had stripped that away from him before he could say anything about it. Instead, his father had decided to pick out which child would have the most potential growing up, and he had been the lucky one. At least that's what his siblings had told him when it was decided that he was going to be the heir to the family business that was worth quite a lot. They were considered the most powerful family that lived in their area, and their last name was basically infamous. Hence why Killua never mentioned his last name when he talked to others, and he rarely even gave out his name, to begin with. When he was younger, Killua was fully prepared to take over the family business without any argument. It was only once he was able to see the outside world instead of being stuck in the damned mansion that he realized that he didn't want this sort of life. Especially after seeing the life that the clans had where they didn't have to worry about something horrible happening over and over again. It would be nice for him to relax and enjoy life for once, and because of the decision that he made, he was punished. Which Killua was fine with because he knew that his family had their reasons for physically punishing him, but after that he let himself heal in the estate before making his escape once his oldest brother was out on a mission. So the tiger wouldn't be there to stop him, as there were only a couple creatures that were capable of doing so. He ran for his life, and he was still running from the rest of his family, constantly leaving trails that lead to dead ends so that they would hopefully never find him. With the discovery of a family guard dog that found him though, he was running out of time. The injuries that he had sustained from his night terror weren't healing as quickly as he would have liked either. Bandages wrapping around his throat and his right arm from where his long metal claws had sunk deep into his flesh. Killua could deal with the pain, but he couldn't train with his elemental powers until he was fully healed. He wanted to be healthy already, and for once in his life, he was lacking patience.

Lucifer certainly wasn't the only dragon that Killua had ever met. His father and his grandfather were both dragons, although they both had the albinism genes that he had. Although his father and his grandfather didn't stay in that form for very long due to the fact it would make conducting assassinations a little bit difficult. Since he had injured himself, Killua hadn't been around when Lucifer joined, so he still didn't believe that there was a dragon that lived in the clan. Considering the size of the mythical creature, one would assume that Killua would have already seen the male, but he had been busy and stuck to the outskirts of the clan for the meantime. Killua was walking through the pine forest, no sign of a limb visible as he walked silently through the snow. His air elementals making it so that his movements were almost completely silent and made sure that he didn't give off any scent whatsoever. He could hear voices in the distance and was wondering what the hell was going on so decided he might as well investigate. It wasn't an intruder at all he could smell was Snowbound. He blinked his sapphire blue eyes and then as he got closer he could notice a large black figure in the distance. Who the hell was that? Silentgrave maybe? No. He hadn't seen the creature in a long time so he doubted it was really even him. He flicked one of his large white ears as he finally came into view of what the creature was. It was a dragon. One that was black and red in certain places and everyone around him seemed to be somewhat calm. The other was a Snowbounder? That didn't mean that Killua was automatically going to trust the beast. He had killed plenty of dragons in the past and it wasn't impossible, but in his condition, if he ever did have to fight Lucifer he would be at a disadvantage. Killua sat off to the side of the group and seemed to hum to himself. The other was obviously built like some sort of tank, very few weaknesses between the other's armored plating. An impressed whistle escaped Killua's jaws as he looked at Lucifer before speaking. "Well, we don't have to worry about getting attacked anymore now that we have a living tank here." Killua would say in somewhat of a teasing voice, but there was apprehension in his tone. He didn't trust Lucifer. He hadn't arrived soon enough to hear Atbash utter the others name. "What's your name?" Killua questioned, his voice calm now. Just because he didn't trust the other, didn't mean he was afraid of the massive creature. Far from it. There was only one creature that Killua was afraid of.

LUCIFER GRIMM — SNOWBOUND — MALE — VERY DIFFICULT
silver and red blinked before the dragon shook his head with an amused snort and slight grim smile "Worry not Atbash, this cold won't affect me" I've lived through colder was the unspoken second thought as the dark beast shifted, the slight snow gathered on ridges falling as he moved to a more comfortable position in the snowy landscape - splaying one large clawed hand outwards and idly watching the Cipher - a name that had been familiar to him very long ago, hm, how strange that reminders kept popping up everywhere even so far from any home he'd known.

he inclined his head to her, a slight gratitude for her worry all the same "But thank you for the concern" it'd been awhile since people were so concerned over him and not the opposite - as was his nature to worry for those in his care, motherhenning and such even if he would stoicly scoff - he hummed "as for everything, well, you simply caught me lost in old memories - what brings you out into the snow?"

but of course then a second joins them - Jacob, perhaps the one he knows most here if only for familiarity from the Typhoon alliance - Lucifer nodded to the husky, granted leadership so soon after the groups had gotten established but from what he'd seen the husky did a fine job.

Lucifer had some experience with sudden responsibility thrust upon you, his whole life might have been defined by it perhaps - the dragon hummed and shook his head "it's alright Jacob, I can wait - and the cold is not so bad in truth" better than the void.

idly he wondered what Mother would have made of these groups - the chaos god would have been charmed by them perhaps, mother had always loved helping others even with her role oft as an executioner - he blinked when another joined them - white Serval, hm.

one that seemed a tad worse for wear perhaps - though his words made Lucifer huff a laugh, true enough, true enough, that's what he usually was at the end of the day, a weapon.

hm, still,

Lucifer inclined his head to the young serval, the slight nerves betrayed in that tone - ah someone who didn't trust easy perhaps? he might've missed it entirely if he hadn't been so long lived,

and if he hadn't been in those same shoes where everyone and anyone could be an enemy

Lucifer's lips pursed - the side that would allow it with the hideous scar on the other - as he hummed "a sentiment often shared with every group I've joined - Lucifer Grimm, a pleasure" everyone liked to have a living tank in a fight, and in truth he did not mind the comparison - he was a weapon, he just wasn't his father's anymore.

ATBASH CIPHER
light the night up,

Ah, it was reassuring to know the weather didn't affect Lucifer too much. Did that mean dragons weren't cold-blooded like most reptiles, or just that his size prevented him from feeling too cold, or was it some other reason? It wasn't something to worry over, Atbash decided, and smiled as the dragon reassured her. "Oh, me?" She responded when he asked what she was doing outside of camp. "Oh, just... Making rounds, I suppose." Which wasn't entirely a lie. She liked coming out to think about things as well, even if it was cold outside. Old memories were painful, and sometimes the cold helped numb her.

Re: NO ONE MADE ME - - OPEN - - I MADE ME - Tena M. - 05-21-2018

✯ — female. snowbound. sand cat. demdji. tags.
Contrary to what she imagined popular belief would be, the sand cat did not mind the cold.  She was built for freezing temperatures, even if she was not necessarily used to snow, specifically.  She had survived a frozen desert before, and the Demdji was, after all, built for the cold nights of such places.  It was more likely than not, for the young fem to be spotted outside, in the snow, than inside.  She spent a great deal of time, wandering, pacing, hunting, and just existing outside.

It helped her think.  It gave her something to do while she worked through memories and the thoughts plaguing her mind.  Tena had a nice enough family; a loving mother, a kind older brother, good friends.  Her father was an enigma.  A djinn, who she did not know, or did not remember.  Perhaps that was for the better.  Life had been... Hard.  The sand cat had been lucky too, though it did not dissolve the bitterness of being bought or sold in the first place, to go to the Depur who owned her brother.  She had family under the same roof.  But she had ruined it... Tena was not the kind to sit and take much of anything; so she left.  She ran.  She ran and she left them behind, and it haunted her.

She'd been a problem child.  Loud.  Out-spoken.  Rebellious.  It had only been a matter of time before she crossed the line.  Still, she fretted that she had made things worse when she left, and she would never know.  At least her brother had escaped that life as well, wherever he was.

Flicking her tail, the Demdji raised a brow as she approached the group. Unusual to see so many out and about in the cold, but... Well, it was always cold here, wasn't it?  At least compared to some places.  "Hey," she murmured in greeting, distinct blue eyes noting each Snowbounder in turn.  "If the cold was bothersome, it wouldn't be a good life choice to live out here," she pointed out idly, a trace of an amused smile tugging at her maw.
